Hi I found this board from the mse boards and am hoping you guys may be able to help me out.

We are mum, dad and 2 boys 6&8 we are driving this Sunday and using euro tunnel, staying at explorers sun and Mon and have park tickets Mon and Tue. My husband broke the bone at the top of his arm and is now pretty useless, can't change dates so I will have to do all driving and rides with both boys.

Only went once 12yrs ago and have done no planning! Have not driven in France before either. Basically I need help from anyone with tips on how to get there and what we can do when there for only a day and a half and with useless husband :-(

Wasn't sure if we should still go but seems a shame to waste it?

Help please!!!
:confused3

Hi. What a shame about your husband.

Link to some hints for driving to DLP here

There are some rides that he may be able to do though, thinking about Pirates of the Caribbean, Small World, Storyboats, Phantom Manor, lots of shows to see at the Studios ( Stunt Show, Animagique, Cinemagique).

Hopefully you'll manage to do some of these together, and possibly more that I can't think of right now.

Hope you have a nice time :goodvibes

The drive is fairly straight forward, you need to take the A26 out of Calais and then transfer onto the A1 which takes you most of the way. If you want more detailed directions just ask. :goodvibes On the majority of the rides you will be able to ride together in a 3 with both your boys so that shouldn't be a problem. Your Husband will be able to join you to watch the shows - there are quite a few in the studios and the parade. Have a look at the DLP website at the show and parade schedule to see which shows you might like to see or characters you might want to meet.

As you are driving I would take plenty of drinks with you. There is no problem taking them into the parks and they are quite expensive there.

Thanks guys, I will take a look at the link for driving and also on dlp site to plan shows. Its reassuring to know that some rides take 3, thank you.

Anything you'd recommend not missing, or not doing. Sounds like its going to be extremely busy, but on the plus side will be lots of brits ;-)

I would suggest booking a character meal - maybe the Sunday brunch at Inventions, or Cowboy Cookout BBQ, or Cafe Mickey?

This would guarantee you a moment to stop & sit down away from the crowds and meet some characters (just make sure they don't  your husband too tightly!!)

I imagine your boys would love Toy Story Playland in studios, just DON'T let your husband sit on the outside of Slinky Dog Spin! :scared:

Buzz Ride would be a good ride that should be pretty safe as you control the car spinning, good fun competition too!

Enjoy the Alice in Wonderland maze, exploring Adventure Isle and the caves and pirate ship.

Hope you have a great trip! :thumbsup2

that sounds great, thank you.
how do i book a meal? i think we maybe a bit late now, I saw a thread which said it was hard to get a table now?

Just call 00331 60 30 40 50 - always worth a try!

brill, thanks. I think we might just try annettes diner on the sunday? not sure character meal will be worth while for our boys as they are a bit shy. Wish I'd started planning sooner, but we have had a lot going on with work to the house and then hubbys broken arm :-( oh well, this site is proving very useful! :cool1:

You can't book Annette's, just turn up. The queues seem to move fast. The last time we were there it looked like a huge queue but it turned out just to be a show on in front of it and the queue was about 10 people.

If you don't have a meal booked, I'd suggest eating as early as possible. This is definitely needed at Annettes. We tried after 8pm one night and the queue was half way down the village. Eating at 5pm, we just walked straight in.

I think because the parade is at 7pm, many people are waiting until after it to eat, making everywhere quite busy.

Thanks for the tip, I'm thinking we will head there on the sunday so it will be early, all day in park monday and maybe just grab mcdonalds inside. Tuesday we will be leaving early to get the tunnel for 6.20pm. Really wishing I'd booked an extra night but at the time my hubby couldn't book any holidays, of course now he is off sick anyway and the extra night would have been great :(

Just trying to gather up all the extra bits and pieces, insurance, tickets etc. Need to print out some park maps and start deciding what rides and shows we really want to do.

I'm tempted to treating the boys to disney 20th anniversary t shirts and caps from the disney store, although is it really worth it?
