Just back. Left yesterday at 4.00pm. Arrived at Eurotunnel for 5. Grabbed a quick bite to eat. Departed Folkestone at 17.50. Arrived France 19.25. Arrived at the hotel (Dream Castle) at 21.50. The Roads in France are excellent and from the tunnel we did not hit one bit of congestion.

The hotel looked great from the outside. Inside was a different story. Check-in was very slow. They supplied us with a King Room instead of a Family room (which we requested). We also requested a non-smoking room but it was quite obvious on entering the room it had been smoked in and quite heavily. These problems may have warranted a complaint if we were staying longer, but no big deal we were only in the room for nine hours so decided to get an early night.

In the morning we left the hotel at 7.30am and drove over to the Disney Villages (empty) multi story car park. Jeez was it cold, but really fitted in with the whole Christmas theme. We then walked over to Cafe Mickeys. We were seated immediately and the characters where everywhere. The buffet breakfast was great.

We then headed over to the Disneyland park. Hannah still didn't have any idea where we where until she noticed the castle and then started getting really excited. First impressions of the park were great. The theming really suited bitterly cold weather and the park and all surrounding areas were very quiet.

We walked up to Fantasyland and in order did Peter Pan, Tea cups, Pinocchio , Belles Christmas village and Alice's Curious Labyrinth. Then over to Adventureland and did Pirates of the Caribbean which was fantastic.

After pirates we waked over to Father Christmas's Christmas village and queued to see Father Christmas. The queue was really slow but he does spend some time with your party, so it more than made up for the long wait.

We then took a brisk walk over to the Chaparral theater for Mickeys Winter Wonderland. Hannah has a real fascination for anything to do with ice skating at the moment so this was perfect.

Then it was back to Main Street to pick up a few gifts and check-in for our 1.30pm Walt's reservation. The meal was good. We both had caeser salads and sirloins. Hannah had the Fish and Chips off the teenagers menu. We were close to the window so were able to watch it "snow" on main Street.

After the meal we headed straight back to the car and left the resort at 3.00pm. After a brief run in with the local gendarmerie and me coming off 90 euros lighter! we headed up to Abbeville and spent an hour with my MIL (surprise visit in hospital with a hip operation), then we checked in at the Eurotunnel for around 7.15pm and back to the UK for 7.15pm (-1 hour) and home for 8.00pm.

Overall a great day with a very tight schedule!

Paul - great report, glad to see im not the only mad one doing a day visit!! We are going over via the EuroTunnel on Saturday.

I noticed you said you used the multi storey car park instead of the main disney car park, any reason why and what were the prices like for a day?

Shame about the hotel room.

Looks like your princesses had a wonderful time :)
Bet MIL got a shock :goodvibes

Thanks. We used the Multi-storey next to the Disney Village because it was close to Cafe Mickeys and the park.(literally a 3 minute walk from the entrance)

From 7.45am to 2.45pm it worked out at E7.20, so around a fiver for seven hours.

A One dayer is definitely the way to go. Have a great time.

Thanks. Yes they had a great time, if a little tiring.

The MIL nearly had another two week stay with a heart attack when she saw Hannah walk in the room and say "Bonjour Nanny!".

Lovely photos. I'm glad it worked out for you:thumbsup2

Hi, looked like you had an action packed day!

Can you tell me a bit more about the character breakfast, in terms of the food on offer and what characters were on show. I am considering doing this on Monday. Were drinks included in the menu price or were they extra?

We did the character breakfast at Easter and have booked it again for our Christmas trip.
There was an excellent selection of food- buffet - All the normal cereals, croissants, fruit, yoghurts etc, hot food including sausages, scrambled egg, bacon, hash browns, toast. Also smoked salmon and a large selection of cakes. Drinks were included - hot and cold and you helped yourself from the machine.
I cant remember which characters we saw but I know there was definitely Mickey, Pluto, Pinochio and about 4 others. If you look at our trip report from Easter Im sure we posted some photos.

At Easter we did the first sitting but when we go at Christmas we have booked the 2nd sitting so are going into the park for EMH for the first hour then will go back out to the Village. Although it means going out Im sure I'll enjoy breakfast better at that time than first thing.

Glad it all went according to plan. :thumbsup2

Your photos are fabulous, thanks for sharing. :goodvibes
