I can't believe how shallow some people are.

I was on a three way conversation with two good friends of mine.

Two of us are having the usual kid, money, job, husband issues.

And what does the other one jump in with?

She's not sure that she can get her nails done tomorrow. She has work at 11:30....and she MIGHT have to actually get up early.

Why is that shallow? If I was on the phone with my friends and I was stressing the nail thing, why shouldn't I be able to voice that? It's not like you said you were discussing someone dying etc.

Maybe your friend is just trying to treat herself to something nice. Instead of calling your friend shallow, maybe you should look in the mirror and realize its not all about you.

I like the ones that think the world revolves around them. We had a customer today show up 15 minutes late for an appt. Then she precedes to tell me she has her other dog in the car, can we do a nail trim? Well, you only made an appt for one dog, now you want us to see two dogs. Then you tell me you want vaccines for both...NO. We can only see one dog.
Then she makes another appt for the other dog and says..."Do I have to pay another office call for my other dog?" Umm..yes you do....

Well, I wasn't about to say exactly what we were discussing... but yeah...it WAS pretty serious.

Maybe she was trying to lighten things up and thought throwing in nails and having to get up at Princess hours might have been eye rolling and what the conversation needed or so she thought.

Or maybe, her nails and Princess sleep are very important to her. Seriously, my BFF would consider not having her nails, hair and lashes done detrimental and devistating and I mean that. She is not shallow, they are an integral part of her self image. I roll my eyes at her and she can laugh at herself but I would be the first one to sell a kidney if it came to that so she could keep them up.

You are an AWESOME BFF! I am the exact same way; but I do know that there are a lot of people who think my "obsessions" are dumb-but they matter seriously to me.

or maybe she doesn't want to discuss them. After I was diagnosed with a medical thing, every freaking conversation with family and friends turned into that. I hated it!
So I would divert the attention, they would still turn it back to me and my sorry state
Finally I had to put my foot down, but I still tried to do it in a humorus way, and I can see me doing just what your friend is doing.
Please don't judge others so harshly, you don't know what they are up against in life as well.

Business is terrible for us. and it always comes up when we visit family. We need a break from the worrying. We made them promise not to mention it.
