Two weeks ago I witnessed a security guard calling in to report a couple taking in their little fluffy frou fou dog into the Animal Kingdom. They claimed it was an anti seizure dog. They could not produce any documentation nor did the dog have the requisite working-dog collar I know these remarkable dogs exist BUT this dog was no working dog. It was being carried around in a designer handbag which was then delicately placed in a stroller and wheeled around the park. I'm always amazed at the outrageous behavior of other guests and their refusal to think the rules apply to them.

Reminds me of the lady on Airline (Airport?) last night who bought a dog and wanted to sneak it in.

I have an overly rambunctious 85lb German Shepherd dog that I think would be a hoot in the parks...particularly Animal Kingdom - he HATES most animals and with the exception of the tigers and lions, he'd have a heck of a time. He's not very fond of small children either and has a tendency to knock people right off of their feet when he's excited. He also sheds quite a bit so those with allergies beware... but I don't like to leave him at home so I think I'll call him an anti-stress dog and bring 'em along next time. Look for us at all of the turkey leg stands.

I should take my two to the parks. OMG, the ruckus they'd cause. I can just see it now. Dodger would be busy barking at the animatronics and Monty Dog would be sitting out by the bakery in France at Epcot begging people for pastries...

Ok what are you going to do with a dog like that in the MK? I mean really most dogs like that are nervous anyway and would probably have a heart attack if you just took it on Haunted Mansion. Yeah me and Fifi are going to go and ride Space Mountain now see you later. That's nuts. I love my dog he is my baby but do you think the dog is actually going to enjoy the trip? NO leave him at home, people confuse me.

That's taking the "pack animal" theory too far. I think the same thing about people who leave their dogs in cars at the grocery store. They enjoy the dog, but does the dog enjoy sitting in the car while they are shopping? I doubt it.

I could see my DH taking our white German Shepherd to the parks. We call her "Wimp Dog". She barks, but from behind your legs. You could find us by following the trail....

She doesn't like the vet and he is afraid of her, one time I took her there and as we walked in the door, he was headed to it to go to lunch. They took one look at each other and both turned and headed in the opposite direction. My DD & I laughed til we ached when we got back in the car.

She would probably like the KS, as she loves riding in the car. We have to take her to Sonic once a week so she can get her ride and have french fries. DH said French fries to her Sunday and did she perk up, she knew where we were going.

My dogs are crazy, curious, people loving Jack Russell Terrors!

They would really enjoy WDW. They love people and are very used to being in all kinds of situations and around crowds. They love, love, LOVE the attention and really ham it up for the crowd when we go out. Monty Dog, the 2 year old, has been to a variety of places, and has ridden on a horse and buggy ride around Boston, taken a ride on an old steam train through the white mountains of NH, been on cruise on a replica of a 1700's schooner out of Salem, MA (and been on other boats as well), eaten at many outdoor cafes, been to Quincy Marketplace and walked the freedom trail, been to the tourist shops of Salem MA and Boston MA and Conway NH and he also loves going to pet supply stores, the groomers and the vets. Not to mention our friends and families house and riding in the car! Our little one, Dodger who is 4 months old will be socialized in the same fashion and we are pretty confident he will turn out the same way.

I could definately picture my dogs at WDW. And they are far from being frou frou dogs! But I wouldn't break the rules to try and sneak them in either.

I think that it would be funny to take my Chihuahua into the parks. He would be a riot! Maybe she saw the new Mk commercial with all the dogs and thought that it would be appropriate. Hahaha.

I think I have seen that dog at Downtown Disney. Security offered to call the kennel for the woman. The woman said yes, and by the time he came back with the info, she was gone. She was then intercepted by a member of Guest Relations and told that the dog couldn't be there. Security was again called and the lady and dog were escorted out of DTD.

There were two HUGE dogs in Le Cellier last week with the same group at a table. I guess they were some sort of utility dogs. The folks that were with them certainly didn't appear to be blind or anything, but I know you can't always tell. I felt bad for the dogs as their owners were trying to get them to lay under the table and one of the dogs refused to go. It was lying in the aisle where anyone could trip over it. One guy got out of his chair and started shoving it under the table but that dog just wouldn't budge. I can't describe how awkward the scene was, I had to quit watching.

When we were at MGM in Dec. a group was there from PAWS getting new puppies acclimated to the crowds. All of the puppies would eventually become service dogs for people with various needs.

My friend's sister has had a traumatic brain injury so where ever she goes the dog goes. When they went to Disney last month the dog went... and even went on some of the rides. I couldn't help thinking my dog would love disney....to bad he is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to rambunctious to be trained like this dog has been

You're right, some people will try anything.

I remember that one. That dog was really cute, I did sympathize with her, but she really didn't help herself (no vet, no documention of the dog.) The SW workers tried their hardest to help her, but she just wanted them to bend the rules for her, not work within the rules. Dogs owners who love their pets that much know how to travel with them and have proper documenation.

The silliest part was she was visiting her daugther who was going to care for the dog and drive him home to her in 2 weeks. And the women was crying like she would never see the dog again. She did live in driving distance too (less then 10 hour drive) She just got the dog, it isn't like she couldn't live with out him, she did until 2 days before.

But he was a really cute dog.

Oh man while reading all of the replies here I kept thinking about our dog-Brittany. She is a yellow lab and loves kids. The more the merrier for her. She is hyper and overly kissy. Can you just picture her in MK. Her tongue would be dried solid LOL

I hope the sweetpea doesn't hear about this. If she does, let me tell you, she will be working on her "master plan" to try to get her beloved Harrison to WDW with us. Will just have to remind her how much she dislikes "poop patrol" and how much worst it will be while on vacation.

I can't imagine any service not doing what it was instructed. (Laying under a table in this case.)
If they were testing the dog, I would think they would do that besides some place like Le Cellier. WDW restaurants tend to not allow a lot of room between tables. But I can't imagine CMs allowing a non-service dog in the restaurant.
The service dogs I have seen in WDW have worn back packs or vests.
