Some people on EBAY really make me MAD!

I've been using ebay for years and never had a problem until.... I bought a double stroller and paid that same night. I picked the stroller up and took it home. When I double check the auction listing, it wasn't even the stroller I had bid on! We email sparks flew and I left a bad feedback. He left his bad feedback. So live and learn, don't trust sellers if they don't leave their feedback right after you pay.

:sad2: Agrhhh. Since being on this board I've had 5 non-payers out of only 45 auctions. I'm just coming off a long break. Have things gotten worse since I've been gone??? This stinks - so much extra work! :sad2:

I think the latest fraud craze with ebay is a buyer claiming after they receive something that it is stained, broken, etc. Looking for a partial or complete refund. I NEVER give a refund unless the item is returned to me (I will pay return postage). I've often offered that remedy only to never hear about the so=called stain again.

Some buyers really stink and some sellers really stink. That's the way it is. As a seller, I always leave feedback when payment is received and I have shipped the package. As a buyer I leave feedback a few days after receipt. If I get an unearned neg, so be it. I can always close one acct and start over with another!

I am a buyer who has gotten things that were misrepresented....ie: NWOT and it came, stained, snagged & beads missing (clearly worn and not even cleaned prior to sending :sad2: ).... yes, I asked for a refund & offered to send it back "if" seller pays for the return shipping & refunds me my shipping. It isn't fair when you purchase something going by the description, it arrives different from advertised & must pay for shipping both directions when it isn't the buyers mistake. Yes, I got a refund... also got a partial refund once becuause 2 out of three of the itmes were misrepresented. I offered again to send back COD. I agree some buyers really stink as well as sellers. I do have to say though, for the most every one that I have bought from has sent exactly what was described. One person... (and she must be a DIS :flower: ) thought she mailed out my package but didn't, is now shipping it as well as offered to refund me my shipping..now to me, that is going above & beyond being a "good e-bayer".... I don't mind waiting for it, as long as I get it...I have never sold on e-bay...not sure if I want to...

Thanks for acknowledging that the problem isn't all sellers! I sell and take pride in the fact that I represent items exactly as they are. If there's a stain, I mention it. I would hate to buy something thinking it was like new and then find it not to be. And I treat buyers the way that I would like to be treated if I was the buyer.

I have in the past made mistakes, though. I sold a sweater and skirt set, size 10. It had been given to me and I had never worn it. I described it as almost new, explaining that I had not worn it. When the buyer received it she emailed me and said that the sweater was a 10 but that the skirt was a 12 and she would have to take it in at the waist in order to wear it. I couldn't say for sure if she was right or not because I had not even tried it on and probably had only looked at the tag on the sweater. I immediately gave her a full refund, including shipping, and told her that if she would still like the set just to keep it. It was my mistake and she shouldn't have to pay for that!! I have had many buyers tell me that I'm very different from a lot of other sellers but I don't believe in cheating anyone! I want a buyer to be happy with their purchase and want to buy from me again! I wish all sellers could be the same!

I'm with you. I have made mistakes, of course, we all do, but I've had people come up with some crazy problems and when I say please return it at my expense, often they disappear.

If I feel someone has a legitimate complaint I alway offer to recitify the situation however they would like. I've lost many a nice sale this way, but I'd rather the buyer be happy!

Ebay can be great - I mean it has gotten my son through 2 years of private pre-K (and now will do the same for my DD) so I cannot complain too much, but when you hit a "bad deal" it really brings you down. Unfortunately, lately I've had a few more bad ones than ever before.

Lately I've seemed to have a lot more bad ones, too. Quite a few non-payments! I thought it was just me. Maybe it's the time of the year????

Let's hope that's the case!! I just filed 3 NPB myself today. :confused3

I'm almost through reading all the posts. If no one answered you yet, FVF stands for Final Value Fees. These are getting harder to get back when someone doesn't pay for the item. Yet another thing about ebay that is starting to frustrate me (we have an ebay store). The last problem I had was last month. The guy was pulling the typical refund scam :sad2: (any sellers here have that happen to them??) and trying to scare me, and in the process contacted my local police and the FBI! Luckily, they blew him off.

I will say and truly hate to say this DON'T leave feedback unless it is left for you or you know this person will in writing.

Sadly, both buyers AND sellers are now taking this approach to feedback. That's one big reason the system doesn't work. Soon everyone will take this approach and then where will we be?

Another is that people don't understand what feedback is for. Complaints about terms they agreed to when they bid, advertisements for their eBay stores, etc.

I would like to see ebay go to a system like tripadvisor's rating system. Where you rate multiple categories on a scale of 1-5. Maybe
Was the listing accurate
Was the item shipped promptly
Was the overal transaction favorable

Anyway, you get the idea. Then these things would be melded into a final rating for the seller/buyer like "Rated 4.9 out of 5 stars by 784 members"

Right now, you get good or bad. Neutral doesn't effect the score at all, so it's really a useless option that few use.

And NO MORE space to write your own personal message!!!!

JMHO :earboy2:

Last year for christmas, my dad bought my gift on ebay. Turns out the person he bought it from decided to quit ebay around the same time, and it was after my dad paid for the item. My dad sent him emails asking when the item was gonna get to our house, but it didnt work. Because he didnt want me to be without a gift, he went to Walmart and bought it again (It was the whole extended edition of the LOTR trilogy). A few days after Christmas, he got ahold of Ebay and pay pal, so he was able to get his money back, but he did leave negative feedback for not recieving the item.

As a buyer, I look at the feedback a seller leaves for others and it is a big factor in whether I decide to buy from them. If there are several sellers listing the same item that I want (a toss-up), I won't buy from people who only leave feedback after the buyer does. Just a pet peeve. I see it both ways, but if I as a buyer pay promptly, positive feedback should be left right away and not only after I leave feedback for them. Just MHO.

I take back my compliment on that person. If it was sent Priority mail as she said it would be, I would have gotten it by now. I checked my pa-pal account & saw that she didn't refund the shipping either. I didn't ask for her to refund the shipping, that was "nice" gesture on her part along with her appoligy for not sending when she should have. By not receiving the item nor the refund after her email to me on 3/23....shows me that she has no intentions of doing it either. I just sent in a compliant with ebay & pay-pal

I use vrane to leave all of my feedback. I often sell over 100 items in a week, and since I find getting the item shipped out to be more important to leaving feedback, that's the only way anyone would get feedback. My local store says thank you (and so do I) for my purchase, and I never thought that they should have a feedback system. You may be losing on on some really good sellers not wanting to bid if they don't leave feedback first (I can't even imagine having the time to check and see who leaves it first LOL). The eBay feedback system doesn't work, and there is nothing anyone can say, that would convince me otherwise. It doesn't work, because it's a poor system, not because sellers won't leave feedback until after their buyer does. Because of how poor it is, it's just the oposite IMO..sellers won't leave feedback first because it's broken. I had someone pay me an echeck just a few days ago, and asked for feedback. I explained about vrane (and I hate to even take the time to explain). Then I got a note from her saying that she had actually decided to cancel her echeck, because she can no longer use the item. It was a wedding item and the wedding was now off. She asked me to not leave her a neg (which is why she wanted me to leave feedback first..and I almost did, rather than get numerous notes from her). Well, eventually, I will (I was her third strike and she is now NARU'd so I can't leave feedback), because she was still bidding on wedding items. Just makes me realize again, why I don't leave it first LOL. I did file her as a non paying bidder.
