My family and I were going through some of my grandmother's pictures yesterday and I found 3 old pictures of a trip she and my grandfather took to Epcot. Look how things change!!

I don't know why they stopped those! They were fun! My kids would have loved them!

Nice photos! Thank you for sharing!

Wow. Grandma is the only person in that pic. Impressive.

I don't think I ever saw the double decker bus in WS. I do remember SE without any fancy bits on it though! :)

That's IT! I couldn't put my finger on what was creepy about that picture :rotfl:

Thank you so much for sharing these. How neat. I wish there were more threads like this; it's so interesting.

What is sad is that those pics do look so old, yet I remember very well when Epcot was the new park.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Wow...I didn't even notice that. I was thinking it was so BLAH looking...no color at all in the landscaping or on SE!

I don't remember the double decker bus either. There have been many times I would have loved to take a ride through WS instead of walking it. :goodvibes

I loved those buses in World Showcase. I'm going to guess too many people got hit by them and that's why they stopped it.

The WS double decker buses are still there, aren't they? Disney uses them to transport only characters around now, kinda like a party bus. I could have sworn I saw one within the last couple years, with all the characters hanging off. Could also be one to many fiesta margaritas!!

Too cool! I love Disney nostalgia. We went in Nov. 1987 and have a bunch of footage shot from the 2nd level of one of the double-decker buses...I miss them, too!

No, I think you're right. I seem to remember seeing one @ the Epcot rope-drop last January...it brought all the characters in to welcome us and then zipped away again.

Me too. I went on a school trip(!) in 1984, not too long after it opened. I guess it was an educational trip. I also remember the news coverage EPCOT's opening received. It shocked me how old-looking these pictures were, or that EPCOT pictures could even look that old. 25 years just doesn't seem like that long ago.

Yeah, they still have it to bring the characters out, but I remember actually riding on one. :( It really wasn't all that long ago. Maybe 15 years? I'm not sure when they actually got rid of it.

Hey, I rode on one of those buses! I think I have video of one, too.

I must say, I really miss Spaceship Earth without the stupid Mickey hand on it. :(

We went to EPCOT when I was 11 in 1983 - I've got to get that photo album from my dad and find a scanner and scan in some pics. These photos you shared are great - thanks for the walk down memory lane!

In interviewed for the college program in 1995...and a girl that had just completed the program..her assignment was driving the busses around World Showcase. So they were there then. I don't recall seeing them in 1996 when Hubby (before he was hubby) and I took a trip.

How cool! I was JUST thinking about those double decker busses and how great it was to to ride them. I was telling my DD that they had them and we rode them, and she was like "yeah, okay". I'll have to show her this thread!

These threads always make me sad that we missed all those great years when they still had cool extras like these busses and the boats in the AK.

I sure like seeing Spaceship Earth in it's "natural" state. Sure wish they would take the gimmicky arm/wand off of the golf ball.
