Some new wheelchair accessible features at Disney waterparks

W O W !!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

This is awesome! My DD would LOVE it! She has always wanted to go to the water parks and we have ignored the water parks because we felt bad knowing she longed to participate!

Well done Disney!!!!

I would love to hear and see more! Thanks Sue for posting ::yes::

:hyper:

I doubt that we will go - my DD's idea of perfect water temperature is hot tub!

My DD got excited when I showed her the pics! She is not able to stand at all ... so this would help us alot! She LOVES water!!!!!!

I am with your DD... hot tubs are perfect! :goodvibes

This is not new as we have done it many times over the last five years or so. It works well for us and we have always found the staff well trained. We did worry a little the first time when they strapped the wheelchair to the raft in case they expected our son to ride down in it :eek::eek: If you go up to the top in the cable car you can also access the other rides up there too.

Thanks - it sounded like it was new (from July) from the article

While I am glad that they are trying to make more rides accessible, that wheelchair-in-a-tube looks like an accident waiting to happen to me. Is it really attached to another tube full of people? What if it flips? Or gets airborne a bit and whacks into the people in the attached tube?

No.

The tube rafts are separate and sent down the ride separately one at a time. The flume they are on is just wide enough for the rafts and has very little water in it. Even the end of the attraction had very little water, so the tube is not going to flip over or become airborne.

That makes much more sense - the way the article read, it sounded like the tube with the chair was attached to the tube with the people. "It goes down after you" would be a better way to phrase it, IMO. thanks for clarifying!

From the link, it sounds like there are some issues with it - the tube with the chair goes first, but sometimes it gets stuck?
