Here is a link to rumors on another site, what do you think of these???
Will disney offer separation packages to save money??? Or get rid of the trams for buses to get into the parks from the parking lot???
Are these rumors just BS or maybe will come to pass.

Cast Members are conducting utilization studies in the parking lots of the four WDW theme parks. The purpose? Plans call for getting rid of the trams from the parking lot into the parks. They may be replaced by buses. Now, before you bust a blood vessel thinking this is just more cost-cutting, there are reasons for this. Mainly, it's because STUPID tourists don't realize that when the tram is moving, you don't jump on or off

Disney certainly seems to be growing more safety conscious, and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with that (safety should always come first), just like with the Splash Mountain "over-the-shoulder" restraints idea things appear to be getting out of hand. You simply cannot protect people from every concievable (and foolish) method they may find to do themselves harm. The WDW railroad and Main Street Trolleys are also open-sided (unrestrained) vehicles - are they unsafe too?

That said, I don't see how a standard bus (if that is what's actually proposed) could work in the parking lot. It takes too long to load and has too low a passenger carrying capacity (how many more buses & drivers might be needed? Both cost money, and we know how Disney feels about that). Much more practical, I suppose, would be a tram with some manner of door. The examples currently used on the Sudio Backlot tour might work (have to watch people standing too close when you open the door), or perhaps a model with air-gates similar to those found on many (and increasing) attractions. This would still be overkill by any reasonable standard, though. I'm sure there have been accidents, but similar trams have successfully operated at parks nationwide for decades, and they didn't suddenly become unsafe. Indeed, once in the mid-80's I saw Walt Disney World hauling guests all the way from the MK entrance to the MK parking lot using these same trams. Bypassing the monorial or Ferry, this required running down streets busy with cars and Disney buses, but was hardly unsafe.

It still seems like this rumor has been mentioned somewhere here before, with the idea of just eliminating the trams altogether as a cost-cutting move (people manage to walk around the rest of the park, right?). I may be remembering that bit incorrectly, but it does ring a bell.

I agree that disney has to be worried about safety issues because the trial lawyers are always on the prowl for more victims!!!
But their is no need at all for over the shoulder restraints on a ride like Splash Mountain!!! That is going way over board, escpecially when the trend is to get rid of over the shoulder restraints on rides that have loops when SM doesnt even have a loop!!!

Keep the Trams!! The buses have bad air conditioning and low people capacity. You get to smell FRESH air on the trams

The trams are not getting more dangerous, at least on average.

It is the juries who are to blame, awarding higher and higher damage awards without really figuring out who was at fault. Yes there are cases where Disney should compensate accident victims grandly. But it should not always be the helpless visitor vs "the big bad mouse".

Maybe the people on jury duty had a not so stellar vacation at WDW. Maybe they bought Disney stock and lost their shirts. Maybe they felt they had more important things to do that day than be summoned onto the jury.

Anyway we all have to suffer with higher admission ticket prices and more inconvenience riding slow loading mundane buses rather than the trams which are fun to ride and unusual because we don't rid them every day.

Reading the rumor sure was no treat for a couple of reasons. First, this sounds awful if true. And second, the writer's choice of adjectives.

This one is hard to swallow. A tram carries 210 people and can completely load in about one minute. A bus carries around 40 people and probably takes about 2 mintues to get those 40 people in it.

So, where one tram wisks away 210 guests at the end of a busy day at MK 5 busses taking about 10 times as long are required. That would really suck.

Well, if they get rid of the Backlot Tour, they could use those types of vehicles. :)

Dont worry testtrack, that vehicle will be next on the hit parade to be gotten ride of!!!

It's the responsibility of the lawyers from Disney's side to weed out those types of individuals from Juries. People that have a grudge to settle with one of the parties do not make for a fair trial.

Since when do juries have anything to do with fairness????
Disney can try their best but their is alot more people out in this country who are alot more comfortable screwing big companies and supposedly helping the "little guy" The fairness of the system was gone a long time ago and with the trial lawyers giving every increasing amounts of money to politicians the chance of it ever returning are slight!!!! I deal with both the criminal and civil systems on a daily basis and fairness is of no concern to the people who run the system!!!

Maybe fair was not the correct word. Impartial is what I believe they are shooting for. In any case Bob not matter what you say about juries, they are after all made up of people like you and me. So any good or bad light you cast on them you also cast on yourself.

No juries arent made up of normal people!!!! If one shows the intelligence to understand the scam the lawyers are trying to play they are stricken from the jury pool!!! The picking of a jury has nothing to do with people being impartial/fair or the other BS one may hear in a civic's class. Both sides try to get rid of people who may choose their side so you are normally left with people who the lawyers feel they can maniuplate. Also the fact that alot of people intentionally dont show up for jury duty because they cant afford to lose the pay that it would cause or dont want to be involved in the system, which results in a very dumbed down jury system. I see this often/weekly in both civil and criminal jury trials and the last thing on the mind of the system is any thought of fairness/justice!!!

Ladies & Gents -

This has gotten quite a bit off track... Let's confine ourselves to the discussion about the trams. In that vein, I heard this last weekend that they were considering trams with doors or airgates rather than trams with seatbelts or busses.

Well, if Buses are to replace the Trams at the Magic Kingdom/TTC parking Lot, the Bridge that goes over the Tram Lane would have to be Replace with a Higher Bridge because its too Low, a Bus won't fit under it. (This is the Bridge on Seven Seas Drive in front of TTC).
