Some Neurotic Newbie Questions

We're booked to stay on-site (Hard Rock) this Xmas and I have a few questions for you more experienced US/IOA travellers:

Is it true that the Resort guest FOTL access is good from park-opening on your check-in day to park-closing on your check-out day?

We have 3-day park passes. Do they have in-out priviledges so that you can leave the parks during the day and then go back in?

As for parking.... On my check-out day can I still leave my car at the Resort parking lot? If I leave the lot temporarily thru the day, can I get back in or do I have to park in another lot?

Has anyone ever had any problems in getting requested room options fulfilled? I looked at booking rooms (RPR) thru Expedia at one time and had selected a few options - 2 Queen beds, non-smoking room - but Expedia had a disclaimer that such options were not guaranteed until check-in time. Any comments/experiences here?

FOTL is good from check in day as early as 8 am to closing on check out day.
Get your hand stamped and come and go as you please.
Leave your car in the resort parking lot. You're paying for it anyway.
No, you should get what you asked for in a room. Upgrades can be problematic.

As soon as you get to the hotel, check in and they will give you your room keys. If your room is not ready, you can store your lugguage and head off to the parks with your FOTL access in hand.

Your three day passes allow you do hop around and come and go as you please.

Leave your car at the resort as early and as late as you want for the days you are there.

When I booked through Expedia, I called the hotel directly and spoke to guest services to make my request for my room. I had requested two beds and non-smoking as well. Guest services checked my reservations and told me I was all set. There were no problems. However, I have heard of people having problems but I don't know if they called before to double check.

Are you flying Air Canada out of Toronto? I can't seem to get a half decent flight price and there are no available seats through Aeroplan. The charter flights don't seem to have much to offer either!

You will have a great time at HRH. We have stayed there about 5 times and love it. I hope you got a good rate!

Damo... We were actually planning to drive to Florida this trip. Some leisurely cruising of Expedia over the last few days brought some some pretty inexpensive flights out of Detroit on US Air. My family of 4 is now flying to Florida for Xmas for a grand total of $1500 CDN! You might try your luck with Expedia, too.

One clarification on the parking issue. I understand that I can leave my car in the Resort lot all day on my check-out. If I leave the property during that day, can I get back into the Resort lot (i.e. are there in-out privileges), or would be forced to park in the public lot when I return to Universal/IOA later that day?

You will either take the boat or walk to the parks from the resort. If you are like many of us you will park the car and not see it until you leave. No one ever asks if you are staying at a resort when you board the boats. On check out day take your luggage to the car and then take the boat to the parks.

Your key is active all day for FOTL on the day you leave. I would assume that it is active in the resort parking lot as well ( you use it to exit the parking lot). You could call the hotel and ask this.

we just returned and stayed 2 nights and used our day of check out at the parks and the room key/onsite front of the line all day it sure was worth it!!
