Some nerve!

Several years ago something similar happened to me...at our CHURCH!!!

We were having a potluck dinner following church and I left my purse upstairs, on top of the coat rack. I had $10 in it, and it was gone when we got home. Thankfully it wasn't much $$, but still...in CHURCH?!

I assumed it was a teenage boy who was known to be a trouble maker, but several months later on a school outing another mother came up to me and told me it was HER daughter who had stolen my money. The daughter did write a "sorry" note, but I think she was just sorry her Mom found out. I never would have considered it could be that girl, was really surprised. She paid me back.

But after that I never left my purse upstairs at church again!

BabyPiget and michie... all I can say to you is that's must be nice that when you've had something stolen from you, you haven't need to give a thought to who it might be.

It also must be nice to assume that this kid was my first thought. My first was that I actually left the money in another place such as my checkbook or my bill file. I scoured my house for it.

There were 10 kids. 9 of them under the age of 6, and this teenager. What's more likely, a teenager who lives in a known gang neighborhood or the birthday girl's pastor grandpa?? All the adults there were immediate family, or other friends of mine. There might be some hidden klepto in her family but I doubt it.

I was laid off last year and so far substitute teaching is not stretching too far. That $75 was basically a day's pay for me. With spring break this week, my budget's even tighter. Although that really shouldn't matter - I could be a billionaire and I shouldn't have to watch my back in my friend's home.

Thank you to the folks who actually think having money stolen was the bad thing here, not my thoughts about who might have done it. :grouphug:

Oh no! that stinks! You never know who it could be, so don't assume, but i know it's hard when you are just totally bummed!
