Some HHN questions..

We just decided that we will probably attend HHN on Saturday, October 29th. I have done some research but still have some questions for all you pros out there.

1. How much are the Stay and Scream tickets? Prices aren't listed on the USO site.

2. If you don't get the express passes, how long usually are the lines for the big attractions such as Spidey, Hulk, Dueling Dragons etc??

3. Is it better to tackle the rides first or do the lines tend to get longer as the night progresses?

The last time we did HHN was 1999 so things have changed a lot so I don't have much to compare it to.

1) Your HHN tickets = Stay and Scream. Your HHN ticket will allow you to stay in the park at a restaurant and get a head start on the haunted houses/attractions. You should purchase HHN tix in advance and reserve your spot. If you wait until the day of to buy HHN tix, they might be sold out, especially for a Saturday.

2) 45+ mins. There is HHN express, but it costs an additional fee ($20-$50/person) and allows one express per attraction and haunted house.

3) Do the rides during the day. They don't change, except for maybe the music outside. Everything else is the same. Worry about the houses. If you stay and scream, you can get several of the houses done before the lines grow more than 30 min waits, which they will. Haunted house lines can exceed 120mins!

those are your HHN tickets - the stay & scream part is when you have day passes, are in the park at closing time, & have your HHN tickets with you. You are herded into a "waiting area" & then are allowed access to HHN after a period of time - but usually before anyone who is in line at the gate.

L O N G - really long. If you can do these during the day, do so. If you MUST do them during HHN, I recommend Express -

Both. It's gonna be crowded. If you have to do the rides during HHN, get the express passes. If you can't get the express passes, then get there as soon as possible - do closest houses first, as some in the back opened later last year. Expect to wait.

I don't know if you plan to stay onsite, if you are going to the parks during the day - all those would throw variables into all those answers.

buy the express pass if you will be at hhn on a saturday night.
i go fri,sat,sun and saturday is crowded......

last year i didn't even use my express pass for the hulk or dueling dragons or spidey........lines too long.

hulk closes earlier due to the noise variance code.

i concentrate on the houses and scarezones and bill and teds adventure.

i spend the day doing the rides, fotl style, and the evenings for the houses and attractions. during the day, i try to look around to see where things are so i am aware of them during hhn. one sign to look for: if it is covered it, it will be uncovered at night.....

do buy the stay and scream before the day of the event.
hhn is growing in popularity and you never know when a date will sell out.

There was a day last year where houses had to close because the pathway between houses was too packed with people. That same night, they had to open the gates of USF to allow people to exit!

i know on the second saturday last oct for hhn that is exactly what happened.
i was there and it was a mess.

i was told by 3 employees the same story and tend to believe it.

that saturday was over sold on tickets for hhn.
they were selling at the gate and did not take into consideration of the pre sales by phone and internet. must have been a computer glitch that wasn't caught in time. anyhoot, sales at the gate that night surpassed the intended number in the park.
was told the crowd exceeded by 15,000......don't know if that number is true but can tell you it was very difficult to accoomplish much once it was 9:00 that night.
the cornfield scare zone was blocked off around 10:10 that night.....too many people. had to walk around the other way to get thru.

even with the express pass, lines for some houses, ghost town, vampire one was a wait of 80 minutes......express pass good only for the first show of bill and ted but they let us use it for the other shows that night.

the only time the line waits were fine that night was 1 in the morning for 2 of the houses i went back to see again.

i do hope they don't do another oops and oversell again.
it is so crowded it takes the fun out of it. and not to mention the drunks.....

USF's gates should have been open to begin with. It was rediculous to hold 90% of the event in USF (it wasn't REALLY 2 parks) but not allow people to exit that park. It's a long trek back to the front of IOA.

Boy and how!!! We had lockers rented, so not only did we have to walk from Jimmy Neutron (where they closed off Studios) to Port of Entry, we then had to go to guest services to retrive what had been moved out of our locker. (and, NO, we were not the only ones!!!!) Not the best planning. I hope it never happens again.
We also ran into problems when they were only letting foot traffic one way in the "scare areas" - we had to do a LOT of backtracking -
