Some Galaxy Edge Questions

Hi all! We finally rebooked our April 2020 trip to next month! So now I am doing all the research and asking all the questions. I am wondering about recent experiences, please and thank you!

1. Has anyone had any experience lately flying with the lightsabers from Savi's as carry-on? I know airlines were fine with it when Galaxy's Edge first opened, but I am wondering if that has still been everyone's recent experience?

2. Are the Galaxy Edge specific gift cards still available? The spira?

3. Because we just booked, of course there are no Oga's reservations available for our dates. I will keep checking, but what has been your relatively recent experience with walk-ups?

Thanks so much for any help!

They're 100% allowed, but they're clumsy because the weight is so imbalanced. The blade detaches from the hilt very easily, so I recommend taking the hilt off, sticking it in your suitcase surrounded by socks, and carrying on the blade only.

Yes, I bought one at Star Wars Trading Post, the Star Wars shop in Downtown Disney. It cost me $105, $5 for the card and you have to load $100 on it at the time of purchase. Back t my hotel I added it on Disney gift Cards website and transferred money onto it from a different card.

We were at Disneyland in December and flew Delta home. It was comical how many people were asking the flight attendant to store their light saber blades in the closet at the front. They just kept coming! 😂 But the attendant was very accommodating and had a good sense of humor about it.

We just flew back on Southwest and the flight attendant let us put our light saber in the closet at the front that they use for their personal items.

Has anyone flown on Alaska with light sabers? We'll have at least 2.

OP- I'm going in April, and I did manage to get an Oga's reservation by checking back frequently. I also signed up at a dining alert site.
From what I have heard, it is possible to do walk-ups at Oga's but you need to get on the list early in the day.

Thanks; I have been checking a lot but so far no luck. I did sign up for a dining alert site, but can I ask which one you recommend? One you had some luck with?

I am hoping that as it gets closer we might luck out but I'm starting to worry. We're massive Star Wars fans and haven't been to Disney in years, so we are really hoping we luck out!

We're not allowed to name the company on the board, I think. But if you google Disney dining alerts you'll find 2 main companies. I've heard of people here having success with both.

Oops, I am sorry. Thank you! I'll give that a try.

I would be surprised if you couldn’t get a walk up at Oga’s. It is frequently available. You don’t have to go first thing, you can check at any time of day but you have to be physically close to the bar to check on the app. You can also speak to the CM working out front.

I absolutely agree with this. While it will often "close" and be at capacity for walk ups , this rarely lasts long.
Case in point back in December I think it was the 8th , myself and coworkers were at Disneyland for Merriest Nites week. We were at Disneyland and most had never been to Oga's because they don't know I'm the queen of last minute reservations and dining haha. But seriously we were walking from Fantasyland to GE from the Big Thunder area entrance and I was able to join the walkup list with our party of 8 , few minutes later as several us were trying at once to make sure , it was closed. We waited maybe 30 minutes.

Less than an hour later the list was open again :)

This is so good to know. Whew.
