Some basic Disney Visa questions

I am anxious to book our 2008 visit through AAA but my parents just got a Disney Visa and want to wait to see if they are offered a better deal than AAA. Is there a standard Visa discount? We are going May 2, 2008, staying for 8 nights and purchasing the dining plan. If the discount is better with the Visa we they will charge their trip as well as mine (with DH and two kids). Should I wait for mom to get around to looking into it or is AAA comparable?

I am certainly not a DIS pro but I can tell you our reasoning behind using the Disney Visa to book our trip.

We went in early May of this year. I think the AAA is room only for the discount. I started looking at the menus and prices of the food and quickly though the dining plan would be the cheaper way to go.

With the Disney Visa card you book the whole package and then you have 6 months at 0% to pay it off. If we would have bought all of our food off the plan we would have been paying $1000 out that week. Plus you get the reward points for using the card.

I don't really know exactly what the difference was in price between the AAA discount and the Disney Visa Code that is offered in May but it was the best choice when we went.

Good luck and maybe we will see you because we are planning on going again in 2008 the same time. It was great weather and low crowds!!!!!

There seems to be no regularity to when discounts are offered ... I would go ahead and book, then if a discount is offered, call back and switch. Get the dates you want, then hope a discoung comes along. With the new room pricing for 2008, I think you will see value and regular seasons filling up quicker. Under the old system, there was creep into other seasons....

I am so loving that you mentioned low crowds in May. I have been hoping that the lines won't be as long as our past two trips, both in June.
