At Aulani:
1. How do you get from the airport to the resort?
2. How are the dining options, and are they expensive?
3. Are there other resorts in walking distance with food options and
activities?
4. What is there to do besides the pool and beach?

Thanks

1. We rented a car at the airport from dollar. It was pretty reasonable...$315 for 10 days or something (smaller car). We landed late, counter was closed, but picked up their shuttle right outside the door and it brought us to their location. It was a quick ride because we were way after rush hour. And believe me, there IS a rush hour.

2. We enjoyed the evening buffet there. Wanted to go to Roy's down the road, but it had beeen closed for fire. The quickservice food at one paddle two paddle was $15 for a non-descript hamburger and fries. We did not do AmaAma by the beach....seemed quite pricey. I've heard you can walk next door to the marriott's pool bar and can better sandwiches and burgers. a short walk across the street to the ABC market will give you a good supply of made to order salads (very tasty), and number of other sandwich opportunities, also souviners and adult beverages. There is also a Just Taco (lare portions) and a hawaiin grill. The target store just off highway 1 before the disney exit is a large store...not the greatest foods, but lots of things you may need.

The other marriott down the beach has a cheap happy hour...not sure about food.

We did snorkeling in a cove further up; booked our own catamarran ride for whale watching and then snorkling in deeper water, drove all the way up to the end of the island and saw beautiful water and some whales breaching. Drove to the top of the island and saw some awesome surfers....and if you are a fan of the LOST series, we drove right past the camp that they used for "The Others". We had also planned on a kayak adventure on the other side of the island and hiking up diamond head, but we had c ouple of injuries, so we didn't. Oh....also Pearl Harbor. Very moving.
