Some AP Questions...

Hi all!

I've been thinking about buying Universal APs for my family but I've got a couple of questions...

1. I did a search and found the Costco deal - is that available in stores or only online? And what will be the renewal price on these?

2. If I buy the 15 month power pass from AAA south; what is the renewal price on these? If I were to upgrade these to premium APs when it was time for renewal, what is the best way to do that?

3. Since the blackout days on the power passes don't affect us this year, is buying one premium and the rest power passes the best way to go?

1. I was at Costco today and only saw the 3 month passes.

2. that one is out of my league

3. an AP can be used for savings for up to 6 people, and it gets you free parking, so yes. we have 2 SP's for Disney and 1 AP just because it pays for itself in discounts and parking.

they have the AP s on the costco site, its a 15 month deal. I bought 1. and I also bought 4 of the 3 month deals.

Just a side note. We were looking at buying a 15 month special deal power pass last year and when I called about could I upgrade it to a regular pass, they said I couldn't. Keep that in mind.

I was thinking this might be a problem... who do I call to find out info on the renewal of the costco.com 15 month premium AP?

I registered just for you to answer these questions.

1. The Costco deal is available in store (atleast it is in Altamonte Springs, FL just a lil north of Universal). My sister just purchased one TODAY (2/25/06). That specific Costco had the 3 month pass and the 12 month plus 3 free month pass.

2. The renewal will be the $99 whenever the 15 months are up, HOWEVER, if you choose to upgrade to a Premium Annual Pass at Universal, you will LOSE the 3 months free. (I just went through this last month).

3. That is up to you. If you are looking to go during a blacked out date, you will need to purchase seperate tickets or upgrade to the Premium pass, again based on the ticket you buy, you could lose free months.

As far as #1. Here are the 3 addresses and phone #'s to the locations in the Orlando area. If you are looking to buy the tickets soon, I can pretty much say you will find them in the store. I can only vouch for the Altamonte Springs Costco.

I have a photo of the 15month pass in store. PM me if you want the link as I'm a new member and I cant post links yet.

The upgrade will work like any other pass once the expiration date is up. It will be $99 to upgrade for the Costco pass.

The costco 15 month is not a power pass, it has no blackout dates it is a 2 park preferred annual pass. ppl are confusing it with the deal thru the AAA south site. It is good for all dates and for the discounts.

The black out dates are what you have to bear in mind....last year they were pretty much every weekend in the summer. And every weekend at christmas....it was easier and better for our budgets to get the 2 park preferred pass....free parking, half off valet, discounts on food hotel and merchandise, preferred seating at all shows. Renewal is $99. Cant beat that IMHO.

In case some are still confused here is the costco info straight from the site

Thank you all! I think I'll buy all 4 of us premium APs through costco. I just wanted to make sure we'd be able to renew them at $99, otherwise the three months free isn't worth it. I just wanted to make sure before I joined costco - I think I'll call the Atlanta area ones to see if they have it.

Thanks again! :thumbsup2

Is the Costco deal available at all Costco's????

When you buy an annual pass--you just get a voucher, correct??? I want to get a "voucher" and then not use it until our next trip, early 2008--would that be a problem???

And, how many rooms can you get discounted with one annual pass?????

TIA!!!!!!! :goodvibes

I dont know if its available at all costcos, but its online costco.com. It automatically activates on 9/30/06 if you havent activated it yet so you couldnt get the full 15 months if you dont activate by then. BTW, you dont have to join to order it, you would have to pay a 5% surcharge if you dont join, so if you dont have a costco near you you might want that option.
