Some advice on Fantasmic dilemma?

I just saw Disney lunch bags with thermos on disneyshopping starting at $5.99. There were lots of boy characters available. You could fill those with a few snacks and a toy. :sunny:

Do it!! Your kids are young, at home they'd probably be in bed before Fantasmic even starts. You don't want to start your magical vacation by keeping them up past their bed time! Let Gramma & Grampa put them to bed... that will be magical for them, and then you will all be able to enjoy well rested children on your first full day!
If they are night owls (I know some young kids are before they are in school) you & hubby go to the dessert buffet and let G& G take them to so something else fun. It's your anniversary, you deserve some time alone!

Your kids are just the right age for the Storyteller at GCH. They have stories by the hearth in front of the big fireplace. I think they do it everynight. Since it is in the public areas, you don't need to be staying there to enjoy it. You will have to call the hotel to check the time, but perhaps your parents could take your kids to enjoy that special time (and around the corner at the Hearthstone Lounge where they can get hot chocolate for the kids and a hot toddy or a glass of wine for them. :))

It also sounds like a long day, since you'll be traveling and the kids will be on an airplane, and then the excitement of being at Disneyland etc.. they might be ready to head back to the hotel early, just from an exhaustion standpoint. That's part of the reason why I think going to story time at GCH, where they can lay on the floor and listen to stories might just be enough activity for them their first night.

Wow, those are some great suggestions!! I guess I will check into the storytime and then wait to see how the day goes. I'm sure they wouldn't notice if they missed the fireworks or fantasmic. We are doing EE the next day, so bedtime will probably be a good idea too!! Thanks to everyone for the input. I think it's neat to try to do something that not everyone does, can or knows about while on vacation. This would be fun for my Hubby and I. Although technically it isn't our anniversary, but it's when Fantasmic is available. It's our lucky #7!

I didn't read all of the posts but my dad's favorite part of Disneyland was spending time in the hotel room with my 15 months old. He likes rides but loves his grandkids more. The would hang out together when it got to be too much for her. Let them stay with them.

Are you going to be calling to get your tickets ahead of time? 30 days out, and they sell fast!

And make sure that you tell them you want them for the balcony...they also have reserved seating on the ground.
