I have been going round and round trying to figure out what to do with two of the medications I need that are very sensitive to temperature changes. We are driving down to Disney the end of October and this is the first time I've had medications with me that are quite so fussy about temperatures.

What a pharmacist friend suggested is that I use a cooler as best I can for the car trip down, and then when I get to Florida, go to a pharmacy, give the pharmacy the phone number of the pharmacy I got the prescriptions at (where my friend works) and he will transfer the prescription down to that pharmacy. Then I can fill the prescriptions (will need to by then any way) and I don't have worry about them dissolving into a pile of foam.

We've talked with the hotel and will have a refrigerator in the room. We had been willing to leave them at the fridge at the front desk, but after hearing about what they were, the manager said they didn't want the liability/risk and that getting a fridge wouldn't be a problem(smile).

I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their help and ideas. The people here are absolutely amazing problem solvers of the best kind!

That sounds like a plan.
If your friend is at one of the pharmacies that has outlets all over the US, I'm sure they transfer prescriptions all the time. Did your friend give you a specific pharmacy to use down there? If not, you might want to line that up before you go. Especially if it is unusual medication. My DD has been on medications that some pharmacies don't carry in stock, so they need a little notice (usually a day or so) so they can get a big enough supply to completely fill her prescription.
Also, a refrigerator will hold its temperature better if it's not too empty, so load it up. (hopefully with stuff that's already cool so the temperature doesn't swing down while cooling all the food).

Here is another sugufestion.

Purchase a cooler for your vehicle that runs off the 12 volt adapter (cigarete lighter). There is an AC adapter that can be pluged into the hydro outet at your hotel.

Hi Sue!

My pharmacist friend told me to remind him a couple of days before we leave and he would email the closest pharmacy in their chain to pre-order the medications.

And thanks for reminding me about keeping the fridge full of stuff to keep the temperature more even. I'm sure I would have forgotten that(smile).

Cdn, on our last trip we borrowed my parents plug-in cooler and found that it just doesn't keep an even enough temperature. I had a thermometer in there and was surprised at how much it varied. I actually found (much to my surprise) that the little cooler, ice and stuff to move the medications around on kept ithem at a more even temperature. Makes no sense to me!(smile)

The hotel told us that the mini-bar just wouldn't get low enough or keep an even enough temperature, which is why we are getting a fridge instead.
