can this be done nonchalently (sp?) or is it making yourself noticed more?

The picture taking itself can be discreet, but the blasted flash seems to scare the pants off anyone in the immediate area. The good news is they won't be looking at your face, because all they can see is the blinding bright spot in their eyes for the next several minutes.

Seriously though, almost every picture I have taken in a TS has needed the autoflash to kick in due to low light levels, and usually that draws attention to our table, unless we are seated way out of the way.

I do it all the time, and I don't think people look. Most people are with their families and are otherwise occupied. I don't THINK they're staring. At least I hope not-I looked back at all my pictures from previous trips and I've got lots of pictures of food I've taken at TS resturaunts. Here's just one from Citrico's-complete with little notebook!:

If you want to take a picture take a picture. Its your vacation, if they want to look at you funny who cares. Just like some folks like to dance down main street and others think that is strange... should that stop the folks from dancing down main street?

I haven't done it solo yet, but I did snap a few pictures of food and drink last trip. It didn't really seem to be a big deal

ya know i guess this question really doesnt make sense! lol
there's going to be times that Im wearing birthday banners, dancing at Off Kilter, etc so what difference should a camera flash going off make?

yep bingo.... that's the same thing I try to explain to people that are worried about just eating solo

I had thought about it, then figured I felt strange about it with my family so it probably would be worse when I was alone. Just seemed a little creepy taking pictures of your food.:rolleyes1 Plus my teenagers would have died from embarrassment. But I guess if everybody is doing it, I might try it. It would be nice to be able to post some pics with reviews. I did see a thread once with photos of the inside of bathrooms- no way I'm doing that! :rotfl:

I love seeing pics of folks food, but usually by the time I stop to eat, all I want to do is to eat, so taking a picture of the food is way far from my mind.

I took pics last week. And no, it didnt draw attention to me. I didnt take alot of pics though, because the food was so good, I just dug right in!

Your trip report is great! :thumbsup2 Making me look forward to my solo trip.

I took pics, wrote in a little notebook, and got LOTS of attention from my servers! I don't know what they were thinking (maybe I would have gotten lots of attention anyway), but they seemed extremely attentive. And yes, I got noticed by nearby tables, but I didn't really care. I was having the time of my life.
I did unsettle one server, though, at Cape May. He kept asking if I was writing good stuff or bad (it was NOT the best experience I've had on WDW property, by the way).

Not to get off topic, but that's gorgeous. Simba's Mom, what is that dish?

Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was called. It was an appetizer at Citrico's lunch, in place of the GFC. However, when I look at the All Ear's menu, I don't see it. I think the name had something to do with "Trio" and my server, who's a regular GFC server, recommended it.
On the original topic, I've found that people aren't as aware of other diners as we might think. When I first started going solo, I expected to stick out like a sore thumb sometimes. It didn't take long to realize that other people are so preoccupied with the rest of their traveling party and seeing the characters, etc., that I was alot less conspicous than I thought-even taking food pictures!

I went solo last year, and yes i took pictures of my food! :)

It's cool because it helps other disers here on the board when they have questions about the food. And actually, i like to look at other disers pictures to see if i would even like it. (i have often made my choices off those pics)

So i think its cool to take pictures of your food!

I found the same thing last week when I was there. No one paid me any attention, and I
didnt feel funny at all.

Yes, I take a picture every single time I have TS on my solo trips. Helps complete some of my favorite memories. It's a theme park, people are used to flashes in all sorts of places. Just set it up nice and pretty, snap and there you have it. Now if I can just capture the smell of some of those dishes...

Just look at the hundreds/ thousands of food pictures on these boards.
You are not the only one taking pictures of the food, so no one will look up.

It would depend on how good the food looked. I don't usually post food pictures in my TR's. However, I wouldn't pay any attention to another solo taking pictures of their food.
