Solo trip...which Value?

I am a 43 yr old dude looking at a solo trip in December 2014. (Wife hates Disney and my daughter can't go this time) I did one in 2010 and did a split between All-Star Sports and Coronado Springs. I almost always stay at a Moderate due to being less crowded and quieter. This time around, budget constraints mean a Value only.

All-Star Sports was fine last time, but noisy. I would like to try something new, perhaps Pop Century.

1. How does the noise compare between the two?
2. How about solo'ing Pop? Too weird with the "pop"y theme? I am less concerned about the theme than I am the room.

I'm sure I will have plenty more questions in the coming months! :)

Thanks all!

Pop is my preferred value. But be aware it will be the furthest bust stop at every park. Ask for a room on the fourth floor and noise should not be much of an issue

I did my first solo trip last November and stayed in pop. I have stayed in all of the all stars at some point. Pop is my favorite because of the bus system. They don't share with other resort hotels like all stars. Sports seems to be always noisy. You can also walk to art of animation from pop which was cool. Also have stayed at boardwalk ( loved the location, but can't afford it without a friend's cast member discount) and port Orleans which was cool. As a kid I stayed at contemporary, but again my budget usually consists of value resorts.

Before I became a DVC owner my first ever visit to WDW I stayed at Pop. I was concerned with the noise as well so I asked for a room facing the parking lot away from the center court or pool areas. It was quite enough for me to get the sleep I wanted but so glad that during this trip I became a DVC owner.

We loved Pop and the ability to check out AoA is a side benefit. I would request a room facing the lake. We even saw a couple of Illuminations fireworks from here.

I don't recommend AoA because single rooms are in the Little Mermaid section which is apparently farthest from the food court, etc.

On my first solo trip I stayed at CSR and it was very nice and quiet for very, very spread out. The bus has a lot of stops. I will be staying at POP this trip due to the transportation and because of my budget. I am excited but wish I could've afford more. I like POP though. I am hoping I can persuade the front desk to possible upgrade me to a preferred room lol.

I would highly recommend POP for a solo trip. I usually stay at Port Orleans but on my trip last January my niece and I stayed at POP and I loved it.

I'm going down for a solo trip October 26th to November 8th this year (3 days not solo as attending a Disney wedding), and I'm going with POP unless I get a bonus from work to upgrade to a moderate.

I hope to meet up with other solo travelers while I'm down there.

I will be down at pop again from nov 6-10, possibly with a friend or solo. Not sure if my friend will get time off.

I stayed at Pop last August for my first solo trip, and I loved it! I stayed in the 50's section on the top floor facing the 60's building. It was soooo quiet! I was close to the main building, so that was a plus, too. My only real issue with the room was that it was really far from the parking lot. I brought a case of water that almost burst open while walking to my room when I first got there. Being a wimpy woman, I had to take several trips to get all my luggage to my room. (The bellhop carts didn't look easy enough for me to control) I probably could've asked for help, but it was lots of exercise! I really can't wait to go back!

I will be the dissenting voice for Pop!

I travel frequently solo and have stayed at all Values. To me, ASMusic is the most quiet of any of them. I always request top floor at the end of a building.

I never understand the whole "the AS share buses problem". They only share during non-peak times of the day. I guess that added 2 -3 minutes of another stop bothers other people. I have stayed at Mods, and this is no different than having 3 - 4 stops within the resort.

I also consider the fact that Pop is so much bigger, there are many more people at the bus stops. So unless you are in front of the line, good chances you will have to wait on a 2nd or even a 3rd bus. This has been my experience at Pop.

Don't get me wrong, as I like Pop and the theming, but would rather have a more quiet and less crowded stay at another Value. :thumbsup2

My vote goes to POP. As mentioned transportation is better. I like the food court better, too.

You have to be careful about how you pick your room location. Stay away from the pool area rooms for one. I think the 50s section may be a better choice. I have a tendency to believe there are more adults in this section that are older.

I like water - Pop was the only value with a lake until AoA.

so my vote goes to Pop.

if you want quiet ask for a lake view building 3 (tramp) - this is standard by the way - pool views are preferred.

love the BIG icons - Tramp is a favorite!!!
