I've never ventured to Disneyland on my own, but I decided to do so this upcoming Thursday. Any tips from those who have? I plan on bringing my camera and making a photo trip out of it as well. Being an avid Disneylander, I know which rides have solo rider lines, which I'll be sure to snag.

I just wanted some input from those who've gone solo :)

Haven't been to Disneyland solo and haven't been since 2001 or 2002...but I would LOVE to go solo to Disneyland. It just seems like it would be a blast.

I haven't gone solo at Disneyland since the late 70s!

But I would love to do it again some day.

Unfortunately, I have too many friends and family there, so unless I don't tell them I'm going to be there, solo isn't likely to be in the cards!

Hello 2 Infinity:

I live in the greater Los Angeles area and I frequently go to Disneyland alone. I really don't think anything of it. Disneyland isn't just a vacation destination, it is a part of the community. Disneyland has so many annual passholders who wander through the Park alone to experience the 'Disney Magic.' The cast members there are soooo friendly. If you feel like a counter service meal, I can recommend the new menu at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country. I had a solo meal there last week and the Fried Green Tomato sandwich was yummy! Get it with the Sweet Potato fries, also too good.

If you have a Park-Hopper pass, and you really want to exploit the single-rider line, go over to DCA and ride Soarin' over California. You will really appreciate being alone when you don't have to wait in line for an hour. :snooty:

I really like to 'people watch' when I am at Disneyland alone, even when I am walking around. It is nice to see families and couples all enjoying what Walt created.

I make sure to walk into many of the stores and check out the new merchandise. If you need to relax away from the crowds for a few minutes, go sit in the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel or saunter around the Disneyland Hotel. We who frequent the DLR are very fortunate that everything is in walking distance: no need to take a monorail or a boat or a shuttle from Park to Park to Hotel. Everything is just a short walk away!

BTW, there is an section on this forum for Disneyland visitors. Check it out:

Have an awesome time! :disrocks:

I have only been solo at Disneyland on two separate trips for a night and both times I met people in line and struck up conversations with them and had a blast the rest of the evening with them. I find going solo to Disneyland very easy to do there are a lot more adult visitors there than at Disney World. So it does not look odd at all being there by yourself! I went from not knowing anyone in California to now knowing 5 people in California, so I will probably never have to be solo at Disneyland again!

So enjoy yourself and make friends in line!

Ahoy! pirate:

My Thursday "solo" trip was accompanied by my brother and his girlfriend. But, in many ways it was still a solo trip. My brother and his girlfriend ventured off to do their thing, as I did mine. There was so much I got to experience that I wouldn't otherwise. On a typical Disney day, I go on at least ten rides or so. This time? Two. Space Mountain and Astro Blasters (check out the awesome picture Buzz sent me ;)).

Overall, it was a complete success. I went with my Nikon in hand and snapped some beautiful pictures all around Disneyland and CA Adventure. I got to do quite a bit of pin-trading and scored some awesome pins! I also decided to step up my game and am now collecting Disney coins, too. :upsidedow hah! I think the best of pin trading would be the fact that I left the park with a Tangled pin in hand. :)

I would easily go to Disneyland on my own again, and plan to sometime very soon. Even if it's just for a couple hours. Very much so a success!

Makes me want to try it even more now...lol! I think I would love to go for 3-4 days and really just soak up the Disneyland feel.

I've done DL many times solo. When my kids are with their dad and I'm available I'll a lot of times pop over there on the fly.

It's definitely a different experience solo. I go on less rides, but I see things I don't usually notice when I'm with others. I also have no qualms with eating sit down solo. So when I'm not watching what I eat I love Storyteller's Cafe (in the Grand Californian) buffet and when I am I love Tortilla Jo's (they have an amazing fish taco with a grill halibut that is amazing).
