So my birthday trip has changed because my son has been invited to spend some time camping with a friend and really wants to go. But I've really been looking forward to spending my birthday in Universal, so I decided today that I'm going solo! First time - I'm looking forward to it, but also a little nervous. Last year when my son and I went, he was focused much more on rides so I didn't get to look around as much as I wanted. Especially in the Wizarding World - I am a huge HP nerd so I am really looking forward to taking in the details I missed last time. At the same time, I'm nervous. I really hope I don't feel weird being there by myself. I've decided to try Cabana Bay this time - I really don't need the Express Pass for just me, and the money I save can be spent on food or other things. Is there a list somewhere of the rides that have single rider? Anyone have tips for a great solo trip?

99 percent of my trips are solo

It is nice you can make any decision changes and do something not on your planned list anytime

Eating alone can be a good thing
You can check emails, check park apps or read when dining alone
I don't do all counter service but do hit sit down restaurants At the hotels, parks or city walk.

Even though I stay onsite and have the ep, I will still hit the SRL
Some that I use are
Dr doom
Spider-Man
FJ
Mummy
TF

Could be a few more but nothing else comes to mind right now

Don't be nervous doing a solo trip
Just tell yourself you'll never see these people again. Half the people in the park won't notice you are alone
Many groups split up to do rides their friends won't do.

Go and have fun !

Take your time looking around potterville without being rushed.

Have the TM use your camera/ phone to take pics of you in the park/ride area, etc

All great ideas - thanks! I'm also looking forward to trying some restaurants that my picky eater would never go to.

I'm with Mac, I usually travel solo too. Sometimes, me and Mac went solo to the parks together lol. Going alone can be fun. Doing whatever you want, not having to worry what other do or don't want to do. Single rider line helps a lot, though I always feel just a tiny bit self conscious about ruining other people's photos (if they want to buy them). Go have fun, enjoy. I hear great things about Cowfish. And I highly recommend Tchoup Chop.

As much as I love my family, solo is awesome! On my last trip to Orlando, I left my mom & son in the room to rest while I explored on my own. Wonderful!

you got the best of both worlds.

spending time with your mom and son in the parks and still got to explore on your own.
that had to be fun !

Don't! We go as a larger group & I like the unexpected surprise of getting a stranger in the pictures...especially the photo bombers & goofy expressions! My fave pic of my grandma was posing by the Dragon Challenge's tent entrance with a stranger...they guy and her were chatting about a door that wouldn't open & then posed for the pic together!

Obvious tip is get there before opening. Even if you do not have early entry, they usually let people in a little early into the parks.

Another tip is ride the non-single rider line rides that you want first thing while the wait time is relatively low. But even if you want to go on rides first thing that do have single riders, but still have a low wait time, I recommend just going through the single rider line. Typically the single rider line is a shorter walk and that way you get to the point of getting on the ride quicker, and therefore you have more time to get on other rides. I often joke that the reason why they say "5" minute wait for lines that have no wait is, because it takes you about five minutes just to walk through the queue.

Single Rider lines for IoA
- The Hulk (not re-opened yet however)
- Spiderman
- The Forbidden Journey

Single Rider lines for USF
- The Mummy
- Transformers
- Men in Black
- Gringotts
- Rip It Rocket

Another than that I can't think of any tips specifically for a solo trip. Just enjoy the fact that you get to make the decisions! Also, you can eat whatever you want and not have your family judge you. :ssst:
