Hey everyone! I am going on a solo vacation to Disney next month May 17th-20th. Anyone else going to be there that time? Want to meet up for lunch or dinner or something? Let me know...

Glad you got the room booked & congrats on the solo trip. I've gone on many solo trips across the US & have always had fun.

You'll be there shortly after I leave. :)

Not going to make it at that time, sorry.

Any special plans on this trip?

RJ

Nothing special really. Just want to have a good time and enjoy myself. I am getting in late evening that Thursday, so I probably won't go to the parks that night. Maybe DTD :confused3 Then spend most of Friday in Epcot, bc of the EMH the park will be open until 12am. Saturday I will stroll through the MK hopefully some of the new Fantasy land will be open I can check out :) and Sunday is my last day, I will go to HS in the morning until I leave. I always like ending my trip with HS for some reason? Anyone have any suggestions on places I can make ADR that would be good for solo traveling?

umm I can tell you one place that unless you want to have the same amount of food as a family of 4 to avoid is Ohana. My mom found it to be too much food served for just her. That's just an opinion though.

ps it'll be star wars weekend at HS so be prepared for larger crowds

Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely avoid Ohana, and I forgot it was Star Wars weekend. I will make sure I get to the park early so I can get a fast pass for Toy Story. I haven't had a chance to ride that yet, and I really want to make sure I get it in this time :yay:

Congrats on booking your vacation!!! When I get back from my trip next week I will let you know how my ADRs go. As of right now I am eating at LTT in MK for lunch, Chefs de France in Epcot for dinner, and Citricos for dinner too. I am a little nervous for dining alone because I am afraid I will get lonely or bored but I am sure I will be fine! Thats what iPhones and books are for :)

Yes, please do! I have eaten at both of those places before and they have great food as you probably know. I was with other people at the time, so I don't know how it is solo? If you come across any resturaunts that have maybe a bar section where you can sit and eat let me know that too. Have a great time!!

I am considering taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour this trip...any opinions about it? I have never done it before...

Do it! It's really good and informative. And a great thing for a solo to do. As for solo dining, I liked eating at Tune-In Lounge at DH (50s PT).

Well I will definitely do it then if you recommend it for solo travel. I was a little leery that it might not be good for traveling alone, but since you said that, I will do it for sure now! I am excited about seeing some of the behind the scenes stuff :yay: And I will check into the Tune-In Lounge, thanks for the suggestion!

i will be at hs same time i got a red eye flight from the west coast be at hs at rope drop i will be there may 20-28 at akl make sure you get a top floor at all star sports less noise i stop making adr because i change my mind at the last min so now i just walk up to the resturant and see if they have any seating it work at mexico and coral sea i was seated within 15 min toy story mania always busy fast pass, or emh star wars weekends it is fun to interact with the charaters i traded a bottle of asprin for a plastic spoon to funny have fun

The Keys tour as a solo was great! I went solo and at lunch the solo travelers were seated together with the tour guide so we got to ask more questions over lunch. Lots of fun!

If you're going to 50s Prime Time, don't be shy about eating in the dining room. I did a solo trip there one year and the server really got me involved with those sitting around me and got us all introduced Then he brought out a photo album for us to look at.

I do character meals by myself, too. The servers have always made sure to be around so they can make sure I get a picture with the characters.

have a great time!

So I just noticed on WDW website that they updated the dates for the Test Track refurb: Monday, April 16 - Monday, April 30, Friday, June 01 - Tuesday, July 31, and Saturday, September 01 - Sunday, September 30. So it is looking like I will get to ride TT while I am there :confused3 I sure hope so, bc it is one of my favorite rides! I'm not sure why the dates are seperated, but I hope it stays thay way :cool1:

Very cool! I will be at HS on the 20th from open until around 3:00 probably. I am going to watch the first showing of Lights, Motors, Action! If you interested in watching that, let me know and we can maybe watch it together? If not, its cool. Thanks for the advise, I always try to get top floor when I stay at the All Star resorts. I definitely have to FP Toy Story this time. I don't want to miss riding that one again this time. Do they have a single rider line for that one?

Thanks for the advice, I am really looking forward to it! Love your avatar by the way, Donald is my favorite...lol

I am going solo (sort of) for the first time, too. I say sort of, because I have a Travel Agent event May 14-18. I am arriving on the 13th (leaving DS on Mother's day - yikes!) so that I have stress free travel and no worries about delays or mishaps making me late to the event on Monday. I catch the Magical Express late on the 18th and my event is over around lunch, giving me a good deal of time on departure day.

I am getting pretty excited about having almost two whole days to myself (once I got past the guilt). I have thought of a million options to keep me busy and I actually don't have enough time to do it all and because my free days are both travel days, I don't quite have the options you do.

I think the tour is a perfect thing to do solo. If I were you, I'd definitely go for that. As for meals, I would try to choose places with good atmosphere or interactions that would keep me engaged. I also think the bars would be great for dinner. Tune in Lounge attached to 50's prime time for instance. I've been dying to try Portobello at Downtown Disney- they have meatball sliders at their bar, not available in dining room, and I've heard great things about them.

Have a great trip!
