So I'll be going to Disneyland for the first time all by myself for my upcoming trip to run the Disneyland 10K. I usually travel with family or friends so this will be something new.

I'm wondering what tips and suggestions y'all have when traveling alone. I'll be sure and make use of the single rider lines, I have some fun restaurant reservations, and I plan to spend some time waiting for a few things that maybe aren't on the top of my friends to-do list... But I'd love any other suggestions on how to may a solo trip awesome!

I'll be sure and report back to let you know how it goes.

I always try to take/make the time to talk with the CMs on the rides and at the attractions. The CMs on the ride vehicles are especially great at giving so much information. Last time, one special CM on the horse drawn trolley spent the entire trip telling me all about the new horse facility and about the training for the Headless Horseman for MHP this year. So fun! Made sure to head right over to City Hall to leave a CM compliment for her! Make a list of any treats you've always wanted to try. Now is your chance to get them all to yourself. :) And explore all the corners and trails to your heart's content. Now is a great time to play "where does this go?" or "what's in this shop?" That's how treasures get found!

I went solo for the first time last September and it was amazing! You are definitely right on the single rider lines. One thing I was surprised by is on most of the dark rides I got an entire ride vehicle to myself, even though I would have been fine with sharing.

The best part was enjoying the fact that I was on my own time, not having to worry about any body else's needs or wants. Do what you want when you want to and don't worry about anything else!

As stated above, best part is the spontaneity, do what you want when you want. And do those attractions and shows that you like. When my whole family goes, no Mickey Fun Wheel. I do it several times when solo.

I LOVED my solo trip in October last year! I didn't think I would because I'm pretty social, but I loved the ability to talk to people in line if I wanted, or not to if I didn't. I wandered around, ate when I wanted to, rode BTMRR about a bagillion times... it was awesome. I took the time to explore the shops along Main Street, grabbed a fortune from Esmeralda, got a prescription from Ned in Adventureland, and did the single rider line for RSR three times and GRR. It was so much fun.

Thanks SO MUCH for all the tips everyone! Great ideas all around! I'll be excited to post my review of how things go.
Thanks again!

FWIW, I go solo all the time and it's always a blast. As others have mentioned, you can take advantage of single-rider lines (for the purpose that they were intended) and you can get around the park a lot faster as you zip in and out of groups of people. What's nice is that sometimes I'll just want to sit with my cup of tea on MS and watch the people go by. I get to do this for as long as I like -- far beyond what's reasonable, if I so desire.

Hope you have a great time! I was just there yesterday :-).

I have a solo trip coming up in October. I can't wait to ride the Mark Twain, the railroad, and see the new Fantasmic! I have really missed them on our last few trips.
I love going to the parks with friends and family, but I love solo just as much. So nice to go at my own pace, ride what I want to ride, eat what I want to eat, and yes, you talk to other people a lot more. FUN!

Thanks everyone for the tips and input! The trip was a lot of fun and I had a great time.
It was nice to make use of the Single rider lines, take things a little bit slower, and try some new things that I likely wouldn't do with a group.
Here is my highlights video with some tips for others traveling solo! Thanks again!
