Thanks!

I'm planning on trying Ohana for the first time on my next solo trip. I've heard that it is hard to book an ADR for one, but that others have had success booking for two and then canceling one before arrival.

I used to do it all the time when I went on solo trips. No problems whatsoever. I got all the food, probably too much, so that's a bit of a downside, the waste! But we always have waste when we go as a couple now too, they just always bring so much.

I think I did have to make the ADR for 2 people, but that's not a problem, I just told them it was just me when I got there. A table for 1 is the same size as a table for 2.

Yeah, I have read about having to make an ADR for 2 instead of one. That's easy enough.

I just worry that it may be too awkward.

You can do it! Try not to think about it being awkward. You can bring a book if you want. I used to go through pics from my day, look over my notes if I was writing a trip report, stuff like that. I think it was really good for me as I was a bit nervous to begin with too.

I just got back from a solo trip.

If you can't find a dining reservation for 1, search for 2. 3, 4, ect til you find an opening. Then you can "edit" your reservation and make the adjustment to a party of 1. I also did two character breakfasts solo. I was worried about it being awkward too but it was far from it. Lots going on around me, too much going on to feel awkward as a party of 1. I loved it!

I did Ohana solo last April and loved it! I did however enjoy most table service meals as a solo in general. Love to take my time, people watch and not have to worry about anything.

I've done 'Ohana dinner solo and had a wonderful time! I plan to do it again on my upcoming trip. I made the ADR for 2 and just told them at the podium when I checked in that I was a party for one. I also requested a table with a view of "something to watch" while I was eating, since I was alone. I ended up with a perfect table with a view of the grill area, the entertainment, and the castle. My service was very good. Many servers stopped by to speak to me during my meal. Not once did I feel awkward or uncomfortable to be dining solo. Yes, it is a lot of food, and some of it did was wasted, but that is usually the case, even when dining with a group. Go ahead and give it a try!

Thanks everyone! I may go ahead and put it on my ADR list when the time comes. I appreciate the input. :)

when we were there in may...we saw a few diners ALONE...yes they were and they enjoyed the food as we did.....our friend always goes by himself and he loves good restaurants.. just enjoy and let us know how you like it..we have another reservation in a month...
