I sold 15 contracts--a total of 1560 points in OKW, BCV, BLT, and DVB. They're all gone. The end of an era. I've been a DVC member since 1991. Will I miss it? Sure I will- but I've seen a devaluation to the membership in ways I couldn't abide --plus personal circumstances have changed...so I am no longer a DVC member..

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll remain active here on the DIS. You've been an active and valuable contributor and youl'll be missed if you're not here.

I hope you won't look down at those of us who are still "afflicted" and buying more points!
;)

 Will you still be going to Disney, DVC free? Where do you think you will stay when/if you head back? I am glad you were able to sell them like you wanted.

I do agree that over the last few years they've taken away perks we once had like pool hopping, free valet parking and now the changes they are forcing on resale owners, what others can everyone think of?

Not sure if I should congratulate you or not. If you're happy about the sales, then I'm happy for you.

So is DVC going down hill that bad? What advice would you give to new people looking at buying in?

Congratulations. I remember talking to you about your points last September did it take five months to sell all of your contracts?

The resorts are still great.

Advice: Wait until the end of this year to buy, prices after March 20 are going to nose dive...and at the end of the year when maintenance fees come due...you will see lowest prices per point ever...

Did I miss something, when did they take away pool-hopping?

If I remember correctly, sad personal circumstances contributed greatly to the need to sell. Congrats on selling since that is what you wanted to do, and thanks for moving me up the list without my buying more points! ;)

Wow, that's alot of points! Congrats, if that's what you wanted/needed to do. You're going to save a ton of MFs per year, that's for sure.

How about perks they have added:
Annual Pass discount
Free internet
No peak surcharge on the dining plan

I'm sorry to hear that but if it was the right decision for you then I'm glad it all went well. Think of all the wonderful memories you have and surely you'll have more to come! You sure don't need DVC to love and 'do' Disney. :)

Only kidding! Hope everything goes well for you.

Sorry you are leaving the DVC family, but always remember family also welcomes you back with open arms. See ya real soon! :)

Sorry to hear that Icydog. You've been a long time contributer here. Glad you were able to do what you wanted to though. Good luck!:thumbsup2

Marylyn,

Looks like you got a lot of great years and I'm sure great trips out of your DVC Membership. It was a pleasure meeting you and your DH on the DVC Member Cruise. I hope those many happy memories bring you joy in the future.

We are in the process of selling our 370 points. We have been DVC members since 1991 as well. I am glad that the people who are buying our points will be able to enjoy all of the perks that we have been able to take advantage of as original owners. We have greatly enjoyed 19 years of wonderful vacations as DVC members. The changes in our personal circumstances, as well as the changes in WDW and DVC over the years have made selling at this time the right decision for us. I'm glad we did have advance notice from DVC to sell our points before the rules changed, and I am also grateful for the competent way that The Timeshare Store is handling the sale of our contracts.

Icydog,

Will you still be traveling via other means than DVC?

You are still family. Your willingness to share knowledge has been greatly appreciated.

Please stay around the Dis.
