Thanks. I think I am just going to get both. Why make hard decisions. How easy is it to get baby in and put of the mei tei?
Hi! Look at my avatar for a 1 year old in a mesh-bodied mei tai, at
Disneyland.

It wasn't solarveil, but it kept things a whole lot cooler than they might have been!
You'll want to practice practice practice with the mei tai. It's a great way to carry a kiddo, but it can be awkward at first, and you don't want to fumble in public anymore than you absolutely have to.
I don't know what kind of straps the solarveil mei tai will have, but if you have any option, and if your baby is on the heavier side, get something with padding on the shoulder straps. By the time of that avatar, if I wore DS on my back with that mei tai, I'd get 'hickeys' on the fronts of my shoulder/armpit area, from the sheer weight of him and the pulling it caused on the unpadded straps.
If you get it from sleepingbaby, I don't know, but I'm almost sure, that she will give you instructions. if not, the babywearer, or mamatoto dot org, or many other places will give you great ideas on how to tie it and wear it.
I personally think that wearing babies in the heat is a GOOD thing. You know exactly how warm the baby is getting, or even if they are getting abnormally cool (my brother was prone to heat problems when he was little, and he would go pale, get cool, and stop sweating right before the problem REALLY started), and you KNOW to get out of the heat or take a water/milk break. If they are down below you in the stroller, you don't KNOW what's going on unless you take a moment to check. I think wearing is safer, personally.
AND if you wear baby/toddler on you and they have a sippy cup of cold water, they are very prone to spilling it on you, and that's awfully refreshing!
