Hi all. We are looking to rent a house for next May and have found a few 5 bedrooms. One in Windsor Hills and one that is significantly less expensive in Solano Resorts? I have seen quite a few reviews for Windsor Hills but none for Solano. Any comments, news, reviews? The house is for myself, my 3 kids, their significant others and 4 grandsons, 7, 3, 3 and 10 months. I am looking for a community with activites in the community even though we will be doing many days at Disney (of course)  :yay:
Thanks for any info you can give me.

I've never stayed in Solana but have stayed in WH. There is a vast difference in how close to Disney they are. WH is about 5 minutes from Disney's Animal Kingdom via Sherberth Rd and Solana would be about 20 min or so.
There are lots of other subdivisions around the WH / Formosa Gardens area ( Emerald Island, Sunset Lakes, Windsor Palms, Rolling Hills, Indian Creek, Oak Island Cove/Harbour) that you can find homes that are less expensive. Don't just limit yourself to looking at 5 bedroom homes cause you might get a 6 bedroom for less.
Here' s the listing page for Kissimmee on VRBO

Solana will be in the Davenport area listings.
Here's a map to show where the subdivisions are:

I am not what amenities Solana has, but I do know that it is located on the 27 south of the 192. Therefore it is further away from WDW. If you don't mind the extra drive, the homes at Solana are usually cheaper.

The amenities at Solana will not match those at Windsor Hills. I have heard that the homes at Solana are nice.

I stayed there last February. Here are the threads are started when I got back.

Overall, I would stay there again, just not with my owner. The resort was nice. If this is your first time off site ever, you may be disappointed because you might not feel ike you are in the thick of things on 27. It is quick to get everywhere though. For us, budget over rules everything, so we have to stay further out to get the amenities that we like to have in a rental. Let me know if you have any questions. I have been pretty busy and not on these boards as much as usual, so feel free to pm me if you want a quick response.

Hi,
We stayed at Solana January 3-12th this year, in a 4 bdrm house for $900 Canadian. It was a beautiful house, and having our own pool was wonderful. The house was clean, and had everything you needed. The only thing I have to say, is the driving was long. It was only 20 mins to Disney in good traffic, but longer to Sea World and Universal. So some nights, staying til the parks closed, we wouldn't get home til 8:30 or so, by the time you actually drive out of WDW property and so on. Kids were then tired/exhausted, as well as us. This is also not a "resort" that has activities for the kids. They do have a club pool, we didn't use it, it looked nice, but there was no planned activities for children. The price is wonderful, but what we saved on the house, we spent in GAS, especially with the price of gas now.
We are returning to Orlando in Feb of this year, but we have actually booked a resort on International Drive, called the Fountains. Main reason, less driving, and they have many, many planned activities for the kids everyday!
Good luck,
Carrie
