SOG'ers, how many passes, etc......

Hello all,
We are in infancy stages...planning a family reunion for Jan 2nd 2007. Since hubbie is active duty, we may stay at SOG or try a home away from home resort since all families involved have kiddos....Question is how many military discount park passes are we allowed to buy our families.. DH is active duty, I have dependent card. Also, does SOG have fridge/microwave in room? Has anyone ever stayed in their suites? Anyone swim in January? So many questions and fortunately, enough time! Thanks!

Fridge, no microwave. We get them at the base through ITT before going (Navy). But they do sell them there too... My inlaws stayed there and we'll be going in Dec. Everything I heard is good good good. Pools are usually heated... search on shades or SoG and I'm sure you'll find a lot... Suite photos also at shadesofgreen.org

Thanks for quick response and tips...we went to WDW in 2002 and bought passes at the SOG store which was then housed in the CR due to remodeling at SOG....do they no longer sell passes at their store?

Shades of Green does sell park tickets but I don't know how many you can get per I.D.
Just call and I'm sure they'll be able to let you know.

I'm sorry, I gave some misinformation.. I read on SoG website "Do you sell park attraction tickets in advance? (Their response) At this time we do not." That stuck in my head. But, Another FAQ says they do sell discounted tickets with ID. I guess they want to be sure you are in the military when you use them? Sorry for any confusion.

The ticket office at the SOG let us buy 9 tickets for family members. We also had one suite booked that sleeps 8 and a room next to it. The suite did have a microwave and a large prep area with sink, refrigerator, king bed, huge living room with couches, etc. and a big table. Two bathrooms, also. It was lovely. The suites are $210 per night.

The catch, however, is supposedly non-military members can use them as long as the number of eligible people (military and dependents) is 50% of the group or party. If you have 10 people, at least 5 must be military or dependents. The other 5 can be non-military.

Enforcement appears to be through the theme park tickets counter instead of SoG. The person taking the ticket could ask for IDs and non-military above the 50% mark would be turned away, according to the websites mentioned above. Does that happen?? Good question!

I bought our tickets at SOG, they have a desk down the hall from the front desk. The prices at SOG are cheaper then on-base for type I wanted. They did ask to see ID when I bought them, they never asked for ID for anyone in the group. They didn't ask any questions at all, just how many adult/kid. Noone was ever stopped at the turnstiles either. I carried my ID card because I'd read about problems with the bio-scans. We had the usual scan problems but noone ever asked for ID. I was asked once 2 yrs ago when the ticket wouldn't read, but never since then.
