Curious if anyone has stayed at both Shades of Green and Beach Club Villas and can weigh in...

Earlier this year I booked our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 young children) a studio suite at Beach Club Villas. We've visited Beach Club often to go to restaurants, but never stayed and always wanted to. We booked room only at a military discount of around 30% I believe.

It's fully paid for but all year long I've felt guilty that we could be staying at Shades, where we've stayed many times- and love- for so much cheaper. It's been booked solid for the week we are going for MONTHS, but today I looked and now it has availability. I'm assuming people are releasing their rooms as it gets closer to 30 days out...

So my question, enjoy the splurge at Beach Club? Or stay in our comfortable, well-priced home-away-from-home, SOG?

Anyone been to both and able to weigh in?

Edited to add... the only Disney resort we've stayed in recently was Caribbean Beach, and although we had fun and enjoyed the theming, if given a choice between the two we'd choose SOG. The rooms size at Shades can't be beat! But CB was super fun to try once.

I think you will find that 5 people in a BCV studio (it’s a single room, not a suite) will be very tight. Yes, it will sleep 5 but it’s pretty close quarters. Especially tight when compared to SOG rooms.

However, BCV has some advantages over SOG, mainly SAB and easy access to Epcot and HS. The lack of space may be worth the trade off.

You will definitely have more space at Shades. BCV deluxe suites are much smaller than the room at SoG. On the other hand, you have the wonderful pool at BC and the ability to walk to two parks. You need to weigh the pros and cons. :)

Have you considered a split stay? Do BCV on Epcot and HS days and SOG for MK and other park days.

I have not stayed at SOG, but I have stayed at BCV and it's my favorite of the villa resorts. That being said, putting 5 in a studio will be tight and if there is a significant cost difference, personally, I would stick with something you know and love - I would switch to SOG.

Thanks everyone! As excited as we are about staying at a "new to us" resort, I have been worried about the room size. Especiallu compared to the huge rooms we are used to at SOG.
When I booked BCV, the studio suite was all that was available. Are children are all young- one is only two... but the amount of "clutter" that goes along with little kids is inevitable.

Someone mentioned a split stay.. with SOG, we'd probably rent a car. They look fairly cheap at the moment. At BCV, we'd rely on the Magical Express.

Another thing is the size of the main pool - its huge. Are the kids gonna be happy to stay in the sandy area with the 2 year old or are you willing to split up and one of the adults stay with the youngest so the others can explore. The pool isn't the easiest to navigate when you are out numbered 3 to 2.
