SOG Question

I have noticed that someone mentioned being able to reserve SOG because father is retired military.

Does the person have to be retired or active military or can the person be a veteran?? (Dad was in Vietnam)

Is this for all branches of service? Does anyone know how this works?

According to the MWR (Morale, Welfare & Recreation) Travel site, "Authorized users include active-duty military, retirees, currently employed and retired Department of Defense civilians, reservists, delayed entry recruits, and family members. Upon check-in, Sponsors are required to provide a valid military ID or current LES."

It's also available for Widows, Medal of Honor Recipients, and 100% Disabled Veterans. The rates are for all branches of the service.

If your father fits into any of these catagories, he'll be allowed to stay at the SOG along with family members. Possibly friends too but I'm not sure about that part of it. I hope he qualifies and I just want you to know that we appreciate what he did for the US.

Active duty or retired only for the military (all branches).
Various other DOD categories, too.
Veteran status does not get you in. Sorry

Good rule of thumb: If he has a current, valid military ID (active, retired, dependant, other), he can use SOG. If not, no.
