SOG overflow rate, plus package ????

Hi All,
DS wants to go to WDW, so we are going. I am super cheap...if I get an overflow SOG rate...at a deluxe...DH said DS would love a deluxe...can I buy the Disney dining package ? My choice would be SOG, their dining package...I don't want to spend all day worried about eating....or POP, two rooms, we are all tall, can't sleep in a room w/ only 2 double beds...dining for the fun things (Hoop De Doo) and CS...but I have a sense DH and DS will prevail...DH thinks we should stay at Boardwalk, w/ dining and hopper plus water park tickets...first week in May...w/ air...about $2900 for SOG...$3500 for POP (two rooms), and $5600 for Boardwalk...this is air, any extras...souvenirs usually consist of a nightshirt and a stuffed animal..obviously I am checking frantically for any type of package code. And will we be happy w/ Boardwalk...we stayed at DLH in November, other than the wallpaper and linens they look like the same room...we stayed 4 nights, were stir crazy at the end. I know, we could rent DVC points...nope, the whole process calls for too much trust. Any feedback ? Neither DH or I are willing to drive or rent a car...too much driving in normal life...so staying offsite is not an option. My budget for this is (was) $5000...if I get picky and count groceries, utilities, gas, and such while we're gone...yeah, we can afford Boardwalk...as I said...I'm cheap !!!

you can not buy the Disney dining package with the overflow rate from the SOG - we tried - we ended up booking with AAA - they actually gave us a great rate at CSR - for about $2600 we have a waterview room, and the dinign package for 7 nights/8days - and that includes one day tickets - we didn't need tickets as we had some left from our trip in Nov - but in order to get the dining package you have to buy at least a one day ticket - so that's what we did - three of us have our tickets left over - for DH we will go to SOG and get the balance of his . Just to let you know even if you are not staying at the SOG they will book things like golf for you at the military discount. Our airfare for the four of us was about 1200 - so we are at $3800 - then a couple more hundred to upgrade the DH ticket - and a few other out of pocket expenses like a fishing excursion - but we will eb under the $5000 for the four of us... good luck

What is an overflow rate SOG?

If SOG (Shades of Green) is full they will book you a room at a Disney resort at a reduced rate so it is called the overflow rate. Harder to get these days cause SOG has more rooms.
