SOG or Moderate

My husband is a DOD employee so we can stay at SOG but not as cheap as military folks. For instance I think our price per night is $131. But if I use a code and get 30 or 40% for moderate it comes close to the same price.
I've heard SOG has bigger rooms.
What would you do?:confused3

we booked SOG because there are 5 of us and we wanted a suite. even with a code, we couldn't get near the price in another resort except a value which we didn't want.

I think $131 is a great price and the location of SOG is worth it..

My DH is active duty military, and our SOG rate is also $131 per night. I would definitely choose SOG over a moderate. We stayed at a mod last fall because SOG was booked, and we were longing for SOG the entire week. The rooms are much bigger!! SOG is also interior corridors (personal preference), and all rooms have a balcony or patio.

If you have little kids, the moderate might be more appealing to them.

The size of your group may also influence your decision.

If it is just adults, I would pick SOG if the prices were pretty close.

Regarding cost and transportation, the situation is not as nice as it was a few years ago. You now have to pay to park your vehicle to EP, AK, and DHS. This is on top of the 5 dollar a day parking deck fee for each day you are at SOG.

The bus transportation from SOG is not quite as convenient as the Disney resorts. (their bus drops you off at the TTC and then you have to take the monorail to MK ......a Disney bus drops you right off at MK)

At SOG you get a nicely appointed large room with a fridge.

Without discounts offered by Disney, it is SOG hands down......but with the discounts being offered, the choice may not be so clear.

Another benefit of SOG is that you can walk right across the street to the Poly to take the monorail to the MK or walk to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot.

Great advice ! Think I will stick with SOG :)

We made the same choice for our upcoming trip! My parents have stayed at both Shades of Green & the Caribbean Beach Resort & they say there's no comparison. The rooms at SOG are huge & the food is significantly cheaper (even if you just eat breakfasts at the hotel). I actually prefer their transportation system over Disney's. It wasn't as crowded, people seemed more polite, & you know exactly when the buses depart from each location. About the only thing I missed was the Magical Express, but you can hire a limo service to get you to & from the airport for a pretty reasonable fee.

Enjoy your trip!!
