I have a question for those who design - I have an old (very old) software program that I use to make simple designs for my family. We just upgraded our computer & I would like to upgrade my software as well. What wouldyou suggest? I would like to be able to do things similar to what you are doing - I have been doing just alot of c&P of things & copying & I want to make it easier for myself. SOmeone suggested Jasc Paint shop? Is that any good? Thanks for any help/insights!!

There are many choices out there. In fact, all of us don't even use the same software. I use Photoshop Elements 5.0 and love it.

When I was in your situation trying to decide, I did trial versions of both Photo Impact and Photoshop Elements (free 30 day trial online). I did one at a time so I could really concentrate on learning one program at a time and then I decided which I liked best and then made my purchase.

Thank you! I didn't even realize you could try trial version- that makes a lot of sense!

I use paint.NET

But, I'm far from a designer. :)

I am looking at the software - I find the photoshop ones but I do not know the paint.net one - where is that?

There you go.

If you google it, you have to capitalize NET.

Apparently, some students at a university created it as part of a graduate assignment with full approval and support of Microsoft. It is, and is suppose to always be free. But, you can work in layers, ect...

There are tutorials online for using it, if needed.
