Software for Making DVD Slideshows

I take what seems to be a million digital photos of the family, Disney World - wherever I go.

I like to make slideshows, set to music (various Disney songs of course!) and burn them on a DVD to give as gifts.

Currently, the software I have for this is MyDVD Premiere 8.0 by Roxio. And while it is very user friendly in making the show - selecting music, showing the photos - making the menu - etc - it is a BEAR to get it burned onto a DVD.

Is there other software out there that is easier to use? I've been to the message boards for help - and right now they have me burning the project to an ISO file - and they suggesting I burn that file to a DVD.

Its also complicated by the fact that I have about 500 pictures and about 11 songs in the project.

Thanks for any help\software suggestions you may have!!!! :)

I don't know anything about the software your using, so I can't help there. But I use ProShow Gold for doing mine and have been very happy with it.

I've seen people on video boards suggest encoding the slideshow/movie to WMV or AVI format, then burn THAT to a DVD using something like Nero or another DVD authoring software. I am just getting into this, having just gotten a HDD-based camcorder, and am using Premiere Elements to create the movie/slideshow, and Nero to author/burn it.

I also use Adobe Premiere Elements to create the show and Nero to burn the DVD.

The Windows Movie maker included with Vista does a pretty good job. Plus the biggest plus is its free!!!!

I'm on XP though - WMM doesn't burn DVDs - only CDs.

I got the DVD burned saving it as an ISO file - then using Nero to burn it - but here's the funny thing - I can't burn another one! I have 10 DVDs here - each a failure!

Its like it teased me - but then won't allow it to occur. I'm going to go to Nero message boards - or maybe the drive went bad? Its external......

Does it tell you there is a problem when you try to burn another (an error message), or does Nero think it worked fine, but when you try the DVD, it doesn't work?

Oh it tells me it failed, and some code along with it - but I don't know how to interpret that. It appears to be half burning it - of course, rendering those DVD's useless.

I thought maybe there was some sort of cache involved - so I rebooted and tried fresh - it still wouldn't burn.

When I try to copy the DVD - it copies it 100% - then fails during the burning.
So frustrating! But it worked once!!!!!
