Softball Team Names

Well, it seems that our girl softball team will need to change it's name. Because they are all older now they will no longer be the Super Sevens. We thought of the Crazy Eights but then we would have to change again next year. We are opening a not-for-profit account and need to pick a name that we will stick with through high-school. We need to think of a name and logo. Here are a few we have come up with. We are trying to stay away from cutsie/girlie names and sexual inuendos. We are also trying to think of a unique name. There are to many Bombers, Super-(fill-in the blanks). Here is what we have come up with:

The Gremlins-I thought of the gremlin from the Bugs Bunny "Falling Hare" cartoon. As far as I know, the gremlin was the only thing that ever got the best of Bugs. Logo???

The Nightmare-A sillouette of a wild looking horse would be cool.

The Super-Naturals-A play on the movie The Natural. I know this goes against the Super- (FITB) rule. Logo???

The Gems-Diamonds in the ruff so to speak. The M in Gems could have a diamond in the center of the M.

Wolf Pack-I'm thinking of the Big Bad Wolf's head as the logo.

'Gators-I think of the girls in the field with their mitts on the ground and taking their other hand and making a alligator "snap" into their glove at the start of each inning. Logo would be similar to the Florida Gators.

Legion-Legionaires or Legion of Doom. The word "legion" has a strong tone to it. Logo?????

Can anyone think of a legitimate name?

What is the age group? Eight year olds? HMMM The older the girls get, the more "macho" names they like:

Shockwave, Blue Thunder, Hurricaines, Torpedoes, Extreme, Heat, Velocity for a few. My eight year old's team this spring was Maroon Madness.

My DH is forming an ASA team for 12U this year and the name is going to be Shockwave from our Fall Ball season.

Might be of absolutely no use to you at all. But I used to play netball and we had all sorts of problems trying to decide on name. We ended up with Levi's........not as in the Jeans, but as in Leviticus in the bible.

Thunder & Lightening is used quite a lot. Some names that are adjectives don't sound right. That doesn't mean they're all bad though. I just haven't heard one that stands out. Jazz, Magic & Heat don't sound tough enough. Sometimes school mascot names are good. My school was the Trail Blazers.

Okay, since I am such an avid Softball Mom, I have to help some more.

Impulse, Fire, Wildcats, Bandits, Hothots, Thunderhawks, Aftershock, Fury, Firebirds, Storm, Explosion, Chaos, Eclipse, Inferno, Crush, Mustangs, Hot Peppers, Wicked, or Raptors.

Or, you could have the gals put their ideas in and then vote on the team name! Have a great softball season! We register for spring on January 7; can't wait!
