Has anyone here ever used "soft paws" on their cats claws? I am considering it becuase of my cat and his clawing 'issues".

Do you have any specific questions about them?
I would suggest trying them. They can be a bit messy if you've never put them on before but your vet should be able to do this for you as well if you ask.
Go for it!

Yes, we used them on two of our cats. The vet did it for us as it involves clipping the claws. Hot pink worked the best as they're easy to find it they fall off. One cat seemed to enjoy her Soft Paws, but the other - abrown tabby - would not rest until she'd bitten off every single nail.

Our cats couldn't even tell that they had them on, and would still try to sharpen.

I'm part of a volunteer cat rescue group, and I promise you - the cats won't even be able to feel them. They're also pretty easy to put on, though I wouldn't recommend clipping their claws first unless you feel comfortable in doing so. You have to be really careful - but there are tons of articles online on how to do it properly :)

It is definitely a MUCH more humane option than declawing them.

My cat wore them for years. The first few times I had the vet do it but after awhile I just did it on my own. Certain toes my kitty would pull them off, others she would leave alone. I highly recommend them!:thumbsup2

We use them for our cat and love them! They are very easy to put on.

I would definately recommend them. They work great. We have been lazy though when they fall off. We haven't been putting them back on. They only seem to bother the cats at first. But after about 20 minutes, they get over it. lol It's definately a 2-person job to put them on. Good luck! :upsidedow

My cats would not tolerate these at all. After much effort and about a hundred Soft Paws, we gave up.

What stopped them scratching was putting a very tall (about 4 foot) scratching post in the middle of the living room and catnipping it so they liked it. Now it is all they will scratch.

My cat has a scratching post, which he uses, but not exclusively. He does not scratch the furniture but he scratches corners of walls and door jams, ugh.

Re the soft paws, do you have to clip the nails first before applying the soft paws?

They are kinda like fake nails so if the nails are shorter the soft paws will last longer unless they try to eat them off. As the nails grow the soft paws will come off.
