Soft Opening...or not?

So I've search and browsed the numerous threads on this topic, and while I'm not sure I have an answer yet, I think I am sure of a few things...
1. We're getting married on May 8th. (Fact, not in dispute!)
2. We'll be at BWV May 10-14, followed by (not as exciting) visit to Aruba the following week.
3. Official opening of WWoHP is June 18th.
4. Dueling Dragons is open, via an alternate entrance.
5. Only if you purchased a room onsite at universal with some HP package deal would you be allowed entrance if/when the soft openings start.

We'll be there for part of our honeymoon, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to rent a car and drive over for a day. My fiance'...er, wife...is a HUGE HP fan, and me, being the good and dedicated husband that I want to be, I Just want to make her happy.

If anyone can confirm or correct what I've stated above, I'd be appreciative!

So far we're leaning towards not heading over, although we'd both like to visit Universal, I think it'll wait until WWoHP is fully open and functional, LOL!

Just to correct, official grand opening is 18th June. 28th May was just when the packages could be booked from.

Unfortunately they won't announce soft opening dates since they're very fickle - they'll just 'happen'. We know there will be softs by 28th May (although debate about whether this is exclusive for package holders).

And yes, DD is open

Theme parks don't announce soft openings because they are based around everything working which is very unpredictable.

I am sure that Universal would like nothing better than to be raking in the money with the Wizarding World being open right now. Unfortunately, things aren't working quite the way they want and so it is still closed. When things get to the point where people can ride, I am sure we will hear about employee previews, passholder previews and soft openings.

I think soft openings will occur anytime from mid-May until the 6/18 opening for everyone. They can't rely on the small number of hotel guests to see what's going to happen when the WWoHP is packed and the rides are going full speed ahead. It would be a disaster to assume everything will run perfectly just based on the numbers of hotel guests.

That's why I said its debateable at the moment. Universal are telling everyone that only package holders will be allowed in during that period, but I don't believe that will be the case.

Thanks for the inputs! I think we're just going to wait until the next trip to visit Hogwarts. (Unless of course we check disboards some morning and make a discovery, LOL!)

We're hoping for some softs between the 22nd and 29th of this month, but not counting on it. Then again it's not like we're not going to be back for 2 full weeks (already booked ) for HHN in October!!!

HHN will be a blast this year! I can't wait! That will be a wonderful time to experience Harry Potter without as much madness as the summer time!
