I have had major oral surgery a number of times - I found that I tended to have more then enough sweet foods - Pudding, Jello, Smoothies, Milk shakes etc. I tended to want more real food. (One side item - no straws!!)
First day or so - Mashed potatoes and gravy - you can buy the pre-made mashed potatoes (remember you aren't going to feel like doing a lot of prep work) that you just microwave and some canned gravy. Gives me the meat taste that I tended to crave.
You can get frozen squash for a veggie. Canned peas are very soft and OK after a day or so. For the most part canned veggies worked as they tend to be mushier.
Once I felt a little bit better, I went for a lot of pasta. Spagettios were great- very soft and easy to eat - at first go for the plain, in a couple of days you may be able to handle the mini-meatballs.
After a few days I was doing all kinds of canned, refrigerated or frozen pastas (Ravioli, Lasagna etc.)
Also - Tamales, cheese enchiladas, refried beans.
You are not going to feel up to cooking so get everything as simple easy convience food. Also stock up so that you are good for several days without having to run out to the store.
