We are staying in OKW and I wanted to know how comfortable are the sofa beds? My sister-in-law will be sleeping on it with my 3 year old DD for 5 days. Do you think she will be able to last?:earsgirl:

Yes, they are comfortable. I've slept on them when I let husband and son share the king sized bed. Also slept on the sleeper at BCV.

Depends who you talk to and how "go with the flow" your SIL is. My dd and her girlfriend (both 16yo's) slept on the sofa bed and swore they never would again. No big deal...this trip my dh and I slept on it (both times were at the BCV btw) for 4 nights without a problem. Wasn't quite as comfortable as the bed but we are both big people (over 200lbs each) and were still able to get a decent nights sleep on it. You could always bring along an airmattress just in case as some have suggested. Have fun!

Last year,we felt the sofa bed in our 2 bedroom OKW villa was no where near as comfortable as the regular beds in the room (bldg 43). Same goes for our studio at BWV----but they both were definitely doable. Keep in mind, it was our kids who slept on the sofa beds both time---I was just checking them out. I may be a little picky when it comes to my comfort :snooty:

I've slept on them and found them to be very comfortable :D

According to the guide we met with in October, all of the current sofa beds are being replaced with new beds that are custom made for Disney. No bar across your back, extra thick mattresses, etc.

I'm not a big fan of sofa beds...but I'll be interested in checking these out.

Our guide told us the same thing last Sunday, all Sofa beds would have full mattresses, so I think you'll be fine!! Enjoy!

Went mid-Oct and stayed at BWV. My kids slept on the sofa bed, and it was fine for them (but together they weigh all of 90 lbs.) Spent a small amount of time on it (not much) and I wouldn't last five days on it. My husband didn't last five minutes (but he barely lasted the week on the king bed in the bedroom - the mattress had a trench - and he is spoiled and picky).

After a LONG day park hopping in the heat, the sofa bed is a nice retreat. I slept on it all week with my 2 1/2 yro in September. It was fine for us.

as Tony pointed out - you will probably be at the parks or resort hopping or shopping - you will be far tired than usually - so no the sofa beds won't be a problem.

my problem was being so tired then having to pull the silly thing out to go to sleep - we did E-nights at the MK with 2 pre-teens - oh boy was I tired.

When we go with a group, there are 5 adults(2 couples and 1 single) who stay in a 2BR(so we are wiithin the occupancy amounts;) ). The single is a "Pooh-sized" friend of ours, and she has slept on the sofa bed in BCV, BWV, and OKW without a problem. She says they are quite comfy.

I pull the mattress off the frame and put it directly onto the floor. Nobody in my household except DS9 can get comfortable when it's on the frame.

At VWL the mattress does not lay perfectly flat. There's a slight angle (head to foot)... very strange.

I’ve slept on the sofa bed a number of times and have no complaints. As I am an early riser, it just makes sense for my guests to use the bedrooms when they join us.

My mom – a young 75-year-old – has also had no problems using the sofa bed.

Thanks for all of the replies. This is one of the unasked questions I had. I'll be in OKW for Thanksgiving and was wondering about this. It's good to know that the soft beds are serviceable in the minds of most folks. This will be our first trip home and I'm getting excited.

Thanks for all the help. My SIL is 5'2 so she might be okay. Kweaver and Crisi, did they happen to say when they were adding the new mattresses? I might want to request a room with the new mattress. Thanks everyone I'll let you know what she thought of it when we get back in Jan.:earsgirl:

NLK - The guide didn't give us any kind of schedule as far as replacing the sofabeds. If I can find his email, I'll try to find out for you.

I have a bad back and these beds are not bad. I find them more comfy than some hotel regular beds. They are not big, so if your relative is sharing with a little child, they should do fine. When we rent a studio, I sometimes sleep on the sofabed with my little daughter when she and brother ar at each other's throats. I am usually so tired I conk right out and wake up OK the next morning. You guys should do fine, new mattresses or not.

PS: Just so you know, virutally every building at OKW has handicapped parking. These spots will be close no matter where you are assigned. You might mention at check-in (that a member of your group has a HC placard) because some units in the individual buildings are closer to the handicapped spots.

Have fun!

My DVC, my points, my bill, but I have given up the bed 4 times already and slept on the sofa bed. I slept well, never had any problems.
This past trip I gave one of the sofa beds to my brother and SIL, and my dad slept on the one in the living room. I got the bed.
My brother said he slept well, my SIL said the mattress was too soft, and my father complained for the entire week and is still complaining now.
However, he fell asleep almost immediatly, and I woke him up every morning when I tiptoed into the kitchen to make the coffee.
