Can you check carbonated beverages?? Flying within CDA.

DSIL loves, and misses! Sussex Golden Ginger Ale. Thought I might surprise her with a few of the 500ml bottles...packed in ziploc bags:teeth:

But I'm thinking it would be a no-no..

Scrolled quickly through the website, and don't see anything...

Ugh. This trip is harder to pack for than Florida...I'm so a Sun Vacation Destination girl!! LOL

:sunny:

Anyone??

Bueller?
:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:
...love that movie, still;)

Packing as we speak - leaving tomorrow afternoon.....

"People" will tell you no, but I've done it. When we went to Europe we brought home a couple cans of Coke for a collector that I know. We did put them in Ziplock bags, but had no problem whatsoever. Hope that helps!

Did you call the airline and ask them? I was going to put Diet Coke into my luggage. Don't quote me, but I thought I read somewhere that as long as it was in the check bags it was OK. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks Debbie and kaitlin-n-mom :goodvibes

I'll give the airline a try later tonight - wait times are "currently exceeding 30 minutes"

I picked up a box of 12 cans... maybe I'll just put a couple in a ziplock bag each, and hope for the best at check in:)

Thanks!!

They advise you not to, but you can, they won't take them out or away from you... however, you may risk EXPLOSION!

I'm serious. :rotfl:

I just brought home a case of cherry coke in my checked luggage. No problem! I'm excited to have cherry coke again!

(imitating someone who shall remain unnamed)

(1) Pull tabs have a tendency to split open if suitcase is crushed enough to exert force on the cans.
(2) Greater chance of can itself splitting due to pressure buildup inside from jostling and vibration combined with pressure decrease outside can as airplane ascends.
(3) Increased chance of can being crushed following inspection and imperfect repacking of suitcase by security.
(4) Extra weight to schlep around.
(5) Accelerates rotting of the teeth when finally consumed.

I wondered the same thing when we went to DW last May. I couldn't find anything anywhere that said I couldn't check soda. However, I was too nervous that they would explode and my clothes for the week would be soaked, so I packed 6x600ml bottles of Diet Pepsi in my carry on...well there must have been a small hole or something in one of them because it did explode. At least it was just my carry on and the only other things in the bag were in ziplock bags. Now, I love my Diet Pepsi, but after that and having 2 other bottles freeze in the fridge at POFQ I dediced it TOTALLY wasn't worth it.

Anything that has "gas" in it can be risky... this includes:

- carbonated drinks
- aerosol hairspray/suntan lotion

Some people have good experiences, some have bad... :confused3
