Can I put soda in my checked luggage? I am addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper I do not think I can make it 7 days without this. Can you put this in your checked bags on the airline??
thanks for any info

I would be afraid between the heat and the luggage bouncing around that the soda would burst. If I were you I would buy it at WDW or an area grocery store outside the park. :cool1:

I totally agree. Also, the pressure of flying causes liquids to swell. Soda could ruin your luggage, and other people's too.

You know people actually live in Florida, not just Disney characters. That means there's grocery stores there. I'd think you'd be better off buying your Diet Dr. Pepper there, unless you like wet sticky clothes.

have u seen myth busters... they proved that it takes a huge amount of either heat or pressure to puncture cans. just thought u'd like to know

My last trip some folks with us had a problem with exploding beer in their baggage. None of the 6 survived :confused3 . The hold of the plane is not pressurized or heated. That along with the jostling seem to lead to disaster! I'd recommend carry on and putting liquids in plastic bags just in case.

Have you looked into wegoshop or into one of the other grocery delivery services? Also, the Hess gas stations have fairly good prices on stuff - some Hess locations are within a fairly easy walking distance to resorts/parks.

I wouldn't believe everything I heard on Mythbusters, they once said that cell phones could not cause a spark if you use them while pumping gas into your car, well I know someone who this happened to and they were very badly burned and now I see several stations put warning on their gas pumps about not to use cell phones while pumping gas! :earseek:

I wouldnt ship it UPS either-same thing applies.......it will be on a plane and baking in the heat of the truck -might explode! Either lug it in your carry on, or buy it when you get there. I definitely wouldnt put it in my checked bags! Id hate to waste a day at WDW because I had to wash clothes.

also, remember the weight that the pop will add. Many of the airlines are enforcing the weight limits.

And their getting pretty nit-pickey about it too! I've seen folks charged an extra $50-$80 for a couple pounds.

The airlines limit on luggage are 50# per bag. 2 checked bags per passenger and 1 carry on. I also was wondering about soda. DW is a Diet Pepper
addict as well. I have heard there is a super Walmart near by. This is my
first trip so I dont know if the resort can shuttle you anywhere, or if you just
gotta call a cab. We are getting the souvenier cups at the resort though.
that will save much money on drinks. Soda is Coke products though.

As far as wegoshop.com goes you need to check the site for availability. We
are going to WDW the first week of August, and the wegoshop.com in Orlando
is closed during that time. So that means we have to pack water and stuff.

Not for all airlines. Airtran allows more weight. Everyone needs to check with the airline they are using.

Drinks(bottled waters/soda/etc) are heavy & then you have to schlep them around...not my idea of a vacation, but ymmv.

By the way, the WDW resorts do not offer any type of shopping shuttles...WDW *really* wants to keep you on-site during your whole vacation. I'm sure that's one of the reasons that Magic Express was 'invented'.

I would consider doing one of two things. Either rent a car from the Magic Kingdom Car Care Center(Alamo/National) for whatever period of time suits you - you can get a free shuttle from your WDW resort to the MKCCC *or* pick out a reasonably-priced/locally-recommended grocery store ahead of time and take a taxi from your resort there and back.

Also Goodings(at Crossroads, near Downtown Disney) does offer a shopping/delivery service. I know that they are expensive compared to most grocery stores, but I think their prices are cheaper than WDW resort prices(plus more selection)...
