I've been buying my kids and husband the white crew socks from Walmart - usually Hanes - don't think they hold up that well...maybe a year! Where do u buy your kids socks? how long do they last?

thanx

I don't think a year is bad for boys socks!!! or any kids socks actually. My DS is wearing Hanes right now and he likes them and I think they hold up just fine. Kids are hard on socks, also how many pairs do you have? Does a pair get worn once every week or once every 2 weeks- also makes a difference. I would be happy for a year.

I buy Hanes from Walmart, and they get stained long before they wear out. At a year they are grey!

And then again, since my DH won't throw anything out, some of his socks are over 10 years old. Believe me, they should have been tossed about 8 years ago.

we find underarmour socks at marshall's and tj maxx. They are some of the best socks, soft and they last.

Does the Kidvantage program at Sears cover socks? If it does, that might be your best bet. I know it covers girls tights.

Gotta agree with the Underarmour! My son used to go through socks every 2 weeks - no joke - he is a skateboarder, and I think he grips with his toes or something - always getting holes in them - any way the UA socks have lasted longer than any other kind I've tried, and I have tried them all!!!

We like the Champion brand socks for kids. The bottoms are gray and they are a little thicker than the tops of the socks which I think helps them to hold up better. We have some of the Hanes ones too and find they get a little floppy in the feet and don't stay as well formed over time. Stride Rite also has great kids athletic socks, but they are a bit spendy so I let MiL buy those! :thumbsup2

I will look for the Underarmour socks when at Marshalls..i just feel like the Hanes loose their shape - especially with my husband - his gets lots of holes!

thanx for the replies..

I have had really good luck with Gold Toe socks from Kohls for my sons. We have some that are going on a year and a half and they have no holes and are still quite thick and soft. I too tried Hanes boys socks only once and within 2 months there were worn and seemed to have no elasticity left - they were really bad.

I got a pack of Gold Toe for DS5 in Sept of 08 and we still have those, and I bought another pack in Sept of 09 for school and those are still looking great. I always wait for them to be on sale at Kohls and buy when I get an additional discount on my Kohls card, but so far they have been the best socks for my kids. No holes, and they are thick and soft.

My DH and DS really like the Tek Gear socks with the green stripe from Kohls. My DH goes through sock and these have really held up. My son is in sports and really likes the way they fit and hold there shape. I can only vouch for the ones with the green stripe.

They have some good sales at Kohls too. I buy them when they are buy one get one.

Problem with dirty socks? My DS8 now wears black socks from Target! :) He wrestles, as DH coaches the high school team, and all the high school boys wear them- so he doesn't mind them! And he doesn't wear white athletic shoes, so they look good with grey or black athletic shoes!

Watch Target for their clearance sales before Christmas, after the school sales. I always get the 8-10 packs on clearance of the Aura (Gold Toe for Target brand) or C9 for 50-75% off!

They sell Gold Toe at Target and JC Penney, also.

Sam's has some decent kids socks, too.

Hanes are AWFUL.

i did buy my husband some new ones at JC Penney - they look nice and feel good! not sure if they are the gold toe or not - buy i'll look next time

We really like the gold toe ones, too. DH was going through his socks in a month (no kidding!), but the gold toe ones have held up very well. They seem to have a thicker weave to them.

I second TJ Maxx and Marshalls. They have a great selection of socks of really good quality. I get DH's socks there. I also really like gymboree socks for special outfits or when I have Gymbucks and need to make up a little extra. But most of the time I get Hanes - Of course, I get them for free :woohoo::woohoo: Bob's Stores gives out $10 off $100 coupons for your birthday, etc. so I usually use those to buy socks. Maybe the quality of the socks is better at Bob's than Walmart but mine usually last about two or three years - the kids outgrown them before they wear out.

We only buy Under Armour! My son has had the same socks for two years now. Not a hole in one.

I am having the best luck with the ones I've purchased at Old Navy. I toss stained clothing so socks don't stick around long but these have been around a year and still look new :confused3 They have a gray striped bottom, and they are ankle socks.

SAMs Club, they never wear out. My Kmart Walmart Hanes had toes out, dingy, thinned, the SAMs are the best I ever had.
