Greetings all!

Wow...I cannot tell you how helpful this board has been in planning our trip in March. We're going to Disney to coincide with a business trip, and just decided this week to extend our stay by moving to Disney when it's over. The last time we were there was in '98 for our honeymoon, where we stayed at the Boardwalk Villas and had an amazing time!

This time, we're planning to stay at one of the moderates, and have it narrowed down to POFQ, POR, and CSR. We're very social people, and like to meet new people when we travel. We almost always come home with new friends to visit in the future, or travel with. We are both in our mid/early 30's, no children, and were wondering which of the three resorts might have the best way to meet other people like ourselves. That might seem like an odd thing, but it's what we like to do. We probably only spend about 3 of our 6 days in the parks themselves, and will be doing other things in Orlando, like a lot of great dining and, for lack of a better word, partying. :earboy2: We just don't see the point of staying anywhere but Disney, based on our last experience.

So...with those criteria, any suggestions? I know that all the resorts we mentioned are someone's favorite, but hopefully you guys might have some views on what we're looking for.

Thanks again everyone!!!

POR has Bob in the lounge and many gather there to listen to him. I'd say that was a good start.

Welcome to the DISboards. I agree with DMRick, Port Orleans is the place you want to be. Have fun!

You might try Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk. It is dueling piano bar and loads of fun. You don't have to drink to enjoy the music and fun of the environment. I went on my last trip and definitely plan on going back. The piano players take turns playing songs and they do a lot of requests. The crowed was cracking up just at the request.

Bo3b, welcome to the Dis.

I have stayed in all three of the resorts that you mentioned (a few, multiple times). My favorite is Port Orleans - French Quarter. I stayed there most recently last July. As DMRick mentioned, the lounge at the Riverside has Bob Jackson. He's a very fun entertainer who performs on various nights of the week at the River Roost Lounge. I have seen Bob's show many times and have always had a good time there. I recently shared info about Bob's show in one of my trip reports (click here). If you look for the post on that page entitled, "FTW VR Planning Session Trip, Day 1: You Only Live Twice" and read it (it's a long one), you'll find links to photos of my resort room, links to videos of Bob Jackson's show, and also links to photos of his show (amongst other things).

I really do enjoy the Port Orleans Resort (both the French Quarter and the Riverside). No matter what resort you pick, have a great vacation.

Welcome to the DIS, Bo3b!

I was going to give the same suggestion mbcary gave. Jellyrolls is a great place to meet other adults. I go there by myself a lot, and I always make new friends while I'm there! If you go there and see Scotty and Ray, tell them Karen from Boston sent you :)

Thanks for the great suggestions, everyone! Anything else helpful would be great. Sorry I didn't reply back right away...most boards take forever to show any response, but I should have known better based on my earlier reading. *lol*

Good for you two! Hubby and I went in '98 as well, without the kids to the WL and had an AMAZING time. Mama let her hair down and had a drink or two or three and staying in the world allowed us to relax and not have to worry about driving. I think you'd love Epcot. Our favorite "Plan of Attack" is to start at the left of World Showcase, start with margaritas in Mexico and on down the line. Once you get to the yards of beer in Great Britain, you'll both be pretty happy campers. I'm no alcoholic, don't get me wrong, but we had the BEST time those 5 days! Have a wonderful time!
