Hello - I am speech pathologist/special education coordinator of 23 years planning Disney!! I am making these slide shows for me and my family so everyone (and myself) can know what to expect - and make sure we don't miss anything :)
As I was making them I was thinking that they would make perfect social stories for kids (or adults) with autism, anxiety, sensory needs; or significant communication deficits.

Each "story" is a little over 10 minutes; each "story" = one day. I try to pair the music from the attraction/area so that the sounds would be familiar to your child once they are in the moment. They can be uploaded to youtube; or your phone; so that they can be accessible in the parks. Children can watch them (and usually memorize them) before leaving for your trip; and can be watched while in the parks to know exactly what to expect next. There are even screenshots of the park maps (many kids with autism love maps!!)

If you would like for me to make a social story for you and your family - it will take some planning and information on your part - but these are so fun to make. I can tailor it to your child and your families day!!

Who will be my first guinea pig!?

(these are my videos for me and my family - these are only examples)
Day One - Arrival
Day 2 - Animal Kingdom
Day 3 Hollywood Studios
Day 4 Epcot
Day 5 - Magic Kingdom

First thanks for your work on behalf of our kids, a SLP that "gets it" can make an amazing difference in helping our kids meet there potential.

my ASD son is older now ( at our state university) but we hunted through the internet for videos when we first went to WDW. It would have been great to have a resource so again thank you for working on this. WDW was an important element of his social development and growing confidence.. One of our other video areas was getting him ready to fly which went better than we expected

These videos are perfect! Thank you so much for putting them out there for others to view and use. I am exited to share them with our family.

I have a highly visual stimulated and DHH kiddo. (We plan to do the DAS interview soon) Our biggest worry is safety because there is so much stimulation. Do you have any pointers on how to keep him safe? He gets so captivated by things visually that he has little awareness he is not with our group anymore. Our therapist suggested discussing a plan and showing him some "safe spots" prior to arriving. Any wild chance you have pictures or videos to help us with this? You did so well with the videos I figured you are a great starting point before I comb through google images for icons to help him out.
