I won tickets to see a soccer game on Monday night-- Milan vs Chelsea. I know nothing about soccer except that these are obviously European teams. Does anyone know anything about them?

What would you like to know? I am a fan of English football (although I don't support Chelsea they are a very good team and have spent a lot of money in the last few months on top new players.) PM me if you have any more questions and I would be glad to answer them for you.

Is this just an exhibition game or does the game count toward the standings in the league? Who are the players to watch?

It is just a friendly game as Milan and Chelsea (from London England) play in different leagues. The season hasn't started yet so teams are still preparing for the new season. I don't know much about Milans players but know a little about Chelsea. Chelsea is one of Englands richest clubs and has a lot of international players in its squad. Wayne Bridges and John Terry are good in defence - both England players. Zenden (who also plays for Holland), Frank Lampard and Joe Cole (England players) are all good midfielders. Gudjohnsen is a good striker to watch (he is also the Icelandic team captain.) Chelsea have just spend a lot of money on new international players and are one of the favourites to win the English league next season.

I assume you are talking about the match in Philly? This is part of a US tour a few European clubs are participating in. Manchester United, the NY Yankees of Europe and Germany's Bayern Munich are also participating. While these games do not "count" they are warm ups for the upcoming season and tend to be very entertaining. They also draw good crowds, so you may get a feel of the passion that the rest of the world feels about the sport.

Here's a little glossary to help you sound like a real footy fan:

match - game

pitch - field

football - soccer

hooligan - the other team's fans

wanker - referee :teeth:

My soccer son would die for those tickets......... He's a Newcastle fan but loves any soccer game. I believe A.C. Milan is one of the top teams in the world.

Soccer is a great sport and hopefully someday the U.S will learn to appreciate it as much as the rest of the world does.

Probably two of the best ten teams in Europe with many of the games star players. I think you couldn't ask for a better chance to go see a soccer game, hope you enjoy it.

I'm so jealous!! What a great match to get your feet wet!! We are big EPL fans so GO CHELSEA! (Love Frank Lampard...DH is trying to get DD to mimic his post-goal fist pumping when she scores!)

Our state soccer organization had a bus trip to Hartford on Monday to see Liverpool v. Celtic. Due to other obligations we had to settle for watching it on TV. It was a bit of a blowout but fun to watch anyway.

Have a great time!

If you're not interested in football, you might get a fair price for them on Ebay.

It is short notice for that because the game is Monday.
