AUGHHH! My husband has gone back to work after being home for a year - which of course is a good thing! - but now I am a solo parent again! I don't know how single parents do all they do!! I have two daughters - one dances the other plays softball - of course each day they are at the opposite ends of the earth!I AM LIVING IN MY MINI-VAN!
I also keep children in my home, so of course I am always loading up 4 or 5 extra children!!

What activities do your children do - and how do you go about handling it?

My kids are teenagers now and it only got worse when they got to high school. Seems I was driving them around even more. DD has her license now but we don't have another car for her so it only helps a little.

DS and DD were both in scouts, soccer, swimming, piano lessons, church activities, and I am not sure what else. Now they are both in Marching Band together, which helps. I love it when they have to be at the same place at the same time.

Saturday they have to be at church for practice for Youth Sunday. DD has to be there at 9 and DS at 9:30. I told him he would have to go at 9.

Just always carry a book in the car with you for waiting and try to meet other parents to car pool.

Sometimes I don't know whether I'm coming or going.

I am busy times three with a work-a-holic DH who helps little.

It seems like we are always on the run, but life became much easier when DS and DD decided they didn't want to do soccer or baseball any more. The hard thing with those sports is that your shedule is always different from week to week. Right now, they are both in scouts and Kung Fu. DD also does dance. The running around is not too bad, but the hardest part is that their activities are always right at dinner time, so they either eat as soon as they come home from school, or we end up eating very late.

Boy I can relate. My DH works a ton, and when he's home he doesn't want to run carpool. Right now I'm really stressed because I can't figure out how to do everything. I have this weekend coming up that I cannot be everywhere at one time and I have no idea how I'm going to pull this off. My DH has a big project coming up and I know that I can't count on him.

I have to say that I am really lucky that we live within walking distance of the school. So after practice the kids can walk home. It helps a ton but I still feel that I am going 3 places at once.

Also my son doesn't like to be overscheduled but my DD, it's another story!

A subject near and dear to my heart...Belle (7) does Brownies, Junior Great Books, German, piano, 3 dance classes, and gymnastics. Buzz (5), fortunately, doesn't do anything extra right now--his choice, all-day K is enough for him. BUT next month, soccer (for both, different schedules) and t-ball (Buzz only) begin, and dance and gymnastics won't end until the end of May. PLUS, I've been informed that Belle will be in the big dance number for the recital (extra Sat. rehearsals), plus her tap class wil be going to compete in the county fair this summer (extra summer rehearsals)! Oh--and did I mention--I'm expecting kid #3? Due 5/15! Yikes! I get exhausted just thinking about it!!! Fortunately, almost everything is within a 2 mile drive of home, but the juggling of activities, meals, homework, etc. is enough to drive me crazy! So, how do you do it? One day at a time, that's about all I can say. I know it's goign to get worse before it gets better...and when it does, finally, get better, I'll probably be depressed that my house is so quiet!
