I have friends that live in SoCal - can they buy parkhopper tiks and then give them to us to use (we don't live in CA) when we go to DLR?

The residents deal seems like a great deal right now

I'm spoiled by last year's Costco deal so nothing sounds good to me right now, but this deal is the closest thing to it! 3-day parkhopper for $194.

The fine print states that proof of residency is required to buy and use.

Taken from the Disney website:

Valid only for Southern California residents within ZIP codes 90000-93599 and Northern Baja California residents within ZIP codes 21000-22999; proof of residency is required for purchase and admission.

Oh dang:( I read that fine print over and over and still managed to miss the words "and admission". Sigh. I guess my brain was in denial.

We went WITH my brother who lives in So Cal in March 2011. He purchased the tickets for us and we all went in together. Had no problems.

My understanding is that as long as the So Cal resident is with you on the first use you will be OK. The ticket terms say, "Not transferable for commercial purposes." Which to me, means you can transfer to a family member. We intend to do this when our family goes next month. But I am prepared to pay the difference if need be. The wording does say proof of residency is needed for purchase AND entry. But as long as my brother has his proof and he purchased he can show that when we enter. I'll let you all know how it goes.

When I bought my SoCal 2-Day pass last month, they checked my ID at purchase and at entry, and also put my name on the pass so I couldn't transfer it to someone else. Probably not going to work.

I asked a CM and they said that as long as someone in your party is a SoCal resident, and they enter with you, you are allowed to use the pass. They will check the SoCal residents ID when you enter the gates, so I would make sure that that resident is with you every time you enter the parks.

HTH,

I am in a similar situation for a trip at the end of April. I am a Premium AP holder and have out of town family coming with me to the parks for 2 days. I am not sure if I can buy the SoCal tickets for them and go with them, or if they have to buy regular tickets.

Well what if you lived there then moved after buying it. So that makes no since in since you will not be with family who lives there then.

I'm a PAP from S Ca too, and I plan on doing this for out of state family next week. I plan on going with them and showing my ID. I'll report back how it went. They are prepared to pay the difference if it doesn't work. I sure hope it does.

Please do.

It does seem odd if they won't allow the discount for guests accompanying a resident. And the anecdotes seem to back up that they'll allow it provided the purchaser shows proof of residency at the entrance.

I remember some years back I got in with a special Southern California discount. It was for a special ticket that operated either as a 1-day park hopper or two separate days at each park (I chose that). My cousin's husband asked at the ticket window what they might be able to do for a guest of a Southern California resident. They were also AP holders but they needed to buy blockout tickets. We were told that it was fine as long as he showed proof of residency when I bought it.
