I live in Arizona and my Aunt who lives in souther california just purchased my family the SoCal Disneyland Two Day Park Hopper Tickets and got the e-ticket.

We are going May 1st and my aunt is not coming with us until the second day.

At the gates will they require me to show ID to see if I am a california resident. I just saw on the tickets that its required. Or was it shown proof when the tickets were purchased under the credit card of a California resident? I am just nervous at showing up at the gate they will make a big deal.

Any socal residents purchase these tickets before and asked for ID at the gate?

Thank you so much.

You're not going to be able to use those tickets. They ask for CA id, and you need to have a CA id, not just your aunt. They can and sometimes do check all adults ID's.

It has been very inconsistant about asking for the ID. Some CM's do, some do not. I know this does not help but there have been numerous threads and opinions about this.

I called Disneyland and they said since the e-ticket was verified by the sale from the credit card, they will not check at the gate. I called again to verify and they said the same thing. So I guess I should be safe then. Still worried me though.

I'm not trying to be snotty here, but I would be sure to have the extra money for regular priced tickets or a backup plan just in case. The bottom line is, sometimes they check ID's, sometimes they don't. I've personally seen them ask for ID, so I know they do sometimes, however, I think that was back in Oct, so it's been awhile. It also may depend on how long the entry lines are or who the CM is....I don't know, but I do know they do sometimes check.

The tickets are supposed to be for residents living in CA, within the zip codes specified. You are not a resident of that zip code, so technically, you're ineligible, or not entitled to use those tickets. It doesn't matter who bought them or where they live, it matters who is using the tickets. And the tickets clearly state you will be asked to show ID, so Disney is well within their rights to ask for your ID and not allow you to use the tickets when you can't produce that ID.

My in-laws gave us the So Cal Costco 4 day parkhoppers as a gift. They are So Cal residents and didn't realize the restrictions. I called Disneyland and they told me that SoCal residents can give them as gifts to non-residents. I was told there would be no problems at the gates and there were none. But I would have been prepared to give them the name of the person I spoke to.

So I am going to say that if Disneyland is telling me I can use the tickets, then I have a right to use them.

So I wonder if there are different SoCal tickets where they might check? Places where you don't have to show ID to purchase? And that might be the time when CMs ask for ID. Also might those being asked for ID at the gate have some kind of other admission media? I mean, do we know for sure that they are being asked for Southern California ID? Maybe military ID or some other kind?

Because it's a gift it's acceptable.

If you have any SoCal resident purchase them for you, wether related to you or not, and you pay them any amount for doing that it is not ok. You shouldn't bring the difference between the regular and Socal price hoping to pay that and get in. Be prepared to pay for a whole new ticket or be escorted off property.

Those are Disney's rules.

I did this last March with the same worries. My grandpa told me to just pick them up at guest services and I did. He bought them at the park and had them hold them for me. As long as it is a "gift" you have nothing to worry about. Some people get really technical on here which I guess it's their prerogative and that is ok, but really all you have to do is have your aunt explain the situation and tell Disney its a gift and you will be picking them up, they will ask for your I.D. to verify you are the gift recipient. It's funny because I thought it was weird I was freaking out but I guess I'm not the only one. To think about it though, at the time there wasn't that big of a difference between the So Cal price and the promo Disney was offering.
If you don't mind telling, how much was each ticket?

When I was considering SoCal tix I called Disneyland and I was told that my ID would NOT be checked. I was also told that it would be fine for my family member to purchase the tickets as a gift, even if that person would not be attending with us.
