i thought I read it would remain open during the addition of the theater. Now I see it will close on 1-4. Is this correct? Bummed out if true

True. Disney official "Soarin' will close for refurbishment beginning January 4, 2016 and shall reopen in the summer of 2016."

Lots of bloggers predicted it could stay open but it can't. There is simply way too much construction to be done to the queue lines to incorporate the new theater the way they plan. During that construction they can upgrade the two old theaters.
