I would love to try the new Soaring attraction at Epcot, but am a real baby about roller coasters, etc. The Spider Man ride at Universal, which many do not consider a real ride, scared me to death and caused a bout of motion sickness. I was actually dizzy and nauseous the whole day afterwards and we left the park early! So, you get the picture: should I try Soaring or will it feel to much like a ride for me?

Very mellow, but don't do it if you're afraid of heights. It's a simulated hang-glider ride.

It is awesome :cool1: I am a little affraid of heights and I don't have a problem. I feel real secure when I am in the chair. Take this with a little caution though, I would hate to tell you this then you go on it and not like it if you don't like heights. :earsboy:

There's nothing roller-coaster-y about it. No jerking, no going upside-down, no sudden rises/drops. Enjoy.

My DW hates coasters. OK, she'll ride Big Thunder, but that's it. She loved Soarin' at DL. We both think it's the best attraction we've experienced at a Disney park.

I am a real chicken. I was a little spooked at first when I was first lifted in the air, but it was great fun after that.

I have gone on the attraction about 20 times and never tire of it! It is relaxing and awe inspiring. The only people I would caution are those extremely afraid of heights. That type of person might continually look down, become paranoid and panic. One of my top three at DLR! :sunny:

In my opinion, it is the best theme park attraction anywhere. Sit in the first row for the best experience. Have no fear...it is completely mellow!

Wish I was Soarin' now! :sunny:

Just to make sure - they actually lift you in the air on this ride? If so it would be a no go for me for sure. I didn't even like the feeling of the PeterPan ride.

And what are the lines/waits like? We'll be there 1st week of June. :cheer2:
I second that question. Is this a new ride or is it something that I just overlooked in the past?

Are there height restrictions on this ride? Would it be appropriate for a 6 and 5 y/o? Thanks

:wave2: we'll be there in April, are there going to be any "soft openings" or AP first chance type of opportunites? April 15-23?? Also the stunt show at MGM?? :hourglass can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you who are asking, yes it is new in Epcot. They are putting it in in the Land Pavillion. I am not sure of the soft opening or regular opening dates. Anyone else???? It is a copy of a ride in DL California Adventure.

I beleive it opens May 2005 for the 50th anniversary. Not sure if there are any soft openings or AP advances. and Yes, it does lift you up in the air. I get very motion sick too, so have never been on it...besides it would make me home sick! :(

OHHHHHHHH no!!!!!!!!

My DH wanted sooooo bad to do this, and it wont be open when we are there April 16-20!!!!

He is gona be so disappointed! :sad2:

Is this similiar to an Imax but the chair moves?

I wanted to see if my mom would want to go on this, she can handle Peter Pan and I have even gotten her on BTMRR and Splash (she won't go again on those two but she survived...LOL)

But if she goes to one of those Imax movies where you are sitting in a ride that moves, she will make them stop it so she can get out....

Just wondering if they are strict about who can ride, I have an AP but the rest of my family (DH, DS, & 2 DD) does not. We will be there for the preview and would love for my family to ride with me. :confused3
